The Rochester baseball team got back in the win column on Tuesday, defeating Hoquiam 13-3 in five innings to notch its first league win and snap a four-game losing streak.

“We had some good, timely hits tonight,” Rochester coach Brad Quarnstrom said. “All in all, it was a good night.”

The Warriors opened the scoring with an RBI single from Tyler Huston, and they added four more in the bottom of the second on a fielder’s choice, an Ethan Rodriguez RBI single, and an error to build a 5-1 lead.

Hoquiam was able to get two back and cut its deficit in half in the third, but Rochester added five more in the fourth and three in the fifth to walk off with a run-rule win.

Wyatt Dahl was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home the winning run, and he also hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Tristan Nelson drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to force home a run, hit a two-run triple in the fourth, and also struck out six across and allowed just two earned runs across four innings on the bump.

“He did a good job,” Quarnstrom said. “And we played good defense behind him for the most part.”

Rochester (2-4, 1-3 1A Evergreen) will head to Hoquiam on Friday for a doubleheader.
