Rochester puts complete game together, defeats Hoquiam

It took until the final game of the regular season, but the Warriors pieced together a complete performance to upend the Grizzlies 63-56 on Wednesday night to end the Evergreen League slate in Hoquiam.

Caleb Sells’ first year running the program ends with a 2-18 overall record and 1-7 mark in the league. From when Rochester played its league foes the first time to the second time, the final scores ended up being closer.

“Would have been nice to squeak into the playoffs,” Sells admitted. “Everything seemed like it was clicking. Very unselfish, make an extra pass to set someone else up. We never had that lull in energy.”

The Warriors jumped out to a nine-point lead after one frame and never lost control. Kole Smith led the way with 17 points while Colton Weiss added 15. Those two plus Brayden O’Connor, Tristan Nelson, Taydee Evanstar and Lane Morgan make up the senior class.

Freshman Emmitt Mancuso plus juniors LeShawn Hines and Stanton Smith are expected to anchor the 2025 Rochester group.
