Fueled by sophomore Annabelle Nakano’s hat trick and four goals before the 15 minute mark, the Warriors put the finishing touches on a third place Evergreen League finish with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday night versus Hoquiam.
As the No. 3 seed in the Class 1A District 4 tournament, Rochester (6-10-1, 4-4) will take on the Trico’s No. 2 seed King’s Way Christian next Tuesday. It’s a rematch from last year’s quarterfinals, won by the Knights 6-0.
“This gives them a lot of momentum,” Warriors head coach Matt Ashton said. “Once you get in the tournament, anything happens.”
Rochester wasted little time lighting up the scoreboard, striking in the fourth minute on a Kenna Pratt goal. Nakano started her memorable night with goals in the eighth, 10th and 68th minute. Liz Hoover scored in the 12th and 47th minutes.
“She has speed, very quick and she’s good on the ball when she has it,” Ashton said of Nakano.
