Rough offensive night dooms Trojans

The Pe Ell boys basketball team suffered a non-league loss at home Monday in a low-scoring slugfest against Ocosta, 36-28.

“Our defense was great again,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “(The) offense forgot to show up.”

The Trojans finished the night 11 for 55 from the field — including going 2 for 15 from beyond the arc — and were an ice-cold 4 for 12 from the line.

“We will not win any games shooting that poorly,” Phelps said.

Calan McCarty led the Trojans (6-10, 6-4 1B CVL) to what offense they could find with 11 points, while Carter Phelps had seven.

Pe Ell gets right back to league action Tuesday against Firm Foundation.
