The chemistry between Adna’s Trevin Salme and Kannen Kephart was on full display on Friday night. Of Salme’s 10 pass attempts, he connected with Kephart four times and three of them went for scores in a 40-0 thrashing of Cle-Elum Roslyn.
Kephart finished with 173 yards and three scores while Beau Miller had over 100 yards of total offense and found the end zone on a pass from Salme. In his second varsity start, Salme totaled 238 yards and four TDs.
“He threw it where he needed to go,” Pirates head coach Aaron Cochran said. “He took a good step, just got to keep gaining.”
On Kephart: “He was an animal,” Cochran added. “Makes our team a lot more dynamic.”
Nailon Ramirez had 9.5 tackles and an interception plus the unit came away with six sacks. Combined last year and Friday in games against the Warriors, the Pirates defense have pitched two shutouts. They will take on a 2-0 Tenino team on the road next Friday.
“Tenino is a very tough task for us,” Cochran said. “Put on our hard hats and get after it.”
