Boys & Girls Club of Lewis County Executive Director Sarah Althauser will leave her position come January.

The club's board of directors announced Althauser’s departure in a news release on Monday. She will leave the position after four years in the top job in order to “prioritize intentional time with her family during this next season of life.”

According to the announcement, this also marks the beginning of a search for Althauser’s replacement to be led by the organization's board of directors.

“As we look ahead, our Board welcomes the opportunity to thoughtfully navigate this transition and find the right person to lead our organization into its next chapter,” wrote the board of directors.

The recent announcement did not mention if Althauser would be involved in helping locate a replacement for her position, but the outgoing executive director expressed excitement for the next chapter of the organization.

“I’m excited about how far we’ve come together and the opportunity for new leadership to build on that foundation, bring fresh perspectives and help shape the organization’s next chapter,” she said. “While my role is changing, my belief in this mission never will. I’ll always be cheering on our Club Kids and everyone working to help them believe, achieve and become.”

In her tenure as executive director, Althauser has overseen the expansion of the local club with the recent opening of a Centralia location at the new United Learning Center, along with its many other programs. In the announcement of her departure, Althauser reflected on her time leading the club as an important part of her life.

“Serving Boys & Girls Clubs of Lewis County has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” Althauser said in the announcement. “I’m deeply grateful to our Board of Directors, dedicated staff, Club Kids and families and community partners for the trust, dedication and generosity that have made this work possible. What I’m most proud of is what we’ve built together.”

In the announcement, the board of directors also thanked Althauser for her service to the local organization and her leadership of what is still a relatively young branch of the Boys & Girls Club.

The Boys & Girls Club of Lewis County was established just 10 years ago.

The board of directors assures the public that it remains deeply engaged in the organization and its leadership, especially during the transition as it seeks a new executive director.
