Search and rescue crews are looking for a 49-year-old Randle man who went missing in the Burley Mountain area near Randle on Tuesday.

The man reportedly went out into the woods off of Forest Service Road 77 the evening of Sept. 25 with two other males to pick mushrooms, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The man was last heard from on the morning of Sept. 26 and he was reported as lost just after 3:40 p.m. that day.

Search and rescue coordinators and volunteers began searching during daylight hours on Wednesday, Sept. 27, and continued searching on Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Swift water rescue and ropes team members planned to respond to an area of steep terrain Friday that could not be safely accessed during the previous searches, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident remains under investigation.
