Semi-truck fells 7 power poles in downtown Beaverton; power restored

A semi-truck dragged down seven power poles onto streets and buildings in downtown Beaverton Friday.

The crash happened in the area of Southwest Watson Avenue to Main Avenue and Farmington Road to Third Street, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

Portland General Electric said Saturday it had restored power to the area.

The semi-truck caught onto an overhead powerline. One power pole snapped at the base, and power lines fell onto surrounding cars, buildings and the road.

No injuries were reported, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, but nearby businesses had been told to temporarily shelter in place because of electric hazards.
