Seniors celebrate Mother’s Day with photo shoot at Sharon Care in Centralia

Lindsay Giberson combines work with Assured Hospice and photography skills to honor women

Just a week before Mother’s Day, the halls of Sharon Care Center in Centralia were filled with laughter and songs such as Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” as the senior ladies of Assured Hospice and Sharon Care had the chance to get makeup and hair done for a “goddess-themed” photo shoot.

Lindsay Giberson, an account executive for Assured Hospice, started the event last year as a way to combine her photography skills with her full-time career. She runs the photo shoots with a clear goal: to make the women feel beautiful, cherished and honored.

The Centralia Beauty College volunteered a team of stylists to provide hair and makeup services for residents before the most recent photo shoot. The women could choose how they wanted their hair styled and pick from an array of eye shadow and lipstick colors.

Just down the hall, Giberson had a floral photo booth backdrop set up with different clothes and accessories to choose from, such as big crowns and necklaces to fit the goddess theme.

“It is so fun to watch the ladies giggle when we pick out the clothes and then really get into the photo session. Their friends are always watching in the background cheering them on, too,” Giberson said in an email to The Chronicle.

Giberson has also brought similar events with her photography expertise to Silver Acres Adult Family Home, Centralia Point Assisted Living and Memory Care and Woodland Village Concepts of Chehalis.

“I hope that their families cherish these images for years, decades to come,” Giberson said. “It is such an honor to be able to capture these women in these elegant years after all the journeys they have lived through.”
