Shakespearian romantic comedy ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ opens at Centralia College

Centralia College is kicking off Valentine’s Day weekend with the opening of one of William Shakespeare’s classic comedies: “Much Ado About Nothing.”

A show director Emmy Kreilkamp calls “the original rom com,” “Much Ado About Nothing” follows two romantic pairings that emerge when a group of soldiers arrive in the town and a series of plots revolving around them.

“Love and repulsion are proven to be not opposites, but two sides of the same coin in this comedy about rumors, stupid mistakes, and strong feelings,” Centralia College states in the show’s description.

“Every actor has put their heart and soul into the characters, bringing them to life and as well as bringing the show in itself into life,” said Hayden Bigelow, who plays Benedick.

“It’s the best! Why wouldn’t you want to come check out a love story on Valentine’s Day weekend?” said Kelsi Mack, who plays Beatrice.

Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday Feb. 16-17 and Feb. 22-24 and 2 p.m. Sunday Feb. 18 and Feb. 25 at the Wickstrom Studio Theater. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $12 for adults.

Tickets can be purchased online at centralia.edu/theatre, over the phone at 360-623-8871, or at the door. Live stream options are also available.

The Wickstrom Studio Theater is located within Centralia College’s Washington Hall at 715 West Pear St. in Centralia.
