Sirens: $50,000 in belongings stolen in burglary; School threat investigated; Man with machete, knife arrested

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision between a passenger car and a semi-truck was reported in the 400 block of East Summa Street just after 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A vehicle reportedly struck a parked car at the intersection of North Pearl Street and Fremont Avenue at approximately 4 a.m. on Dec. 8. 

 

Theft 

• A 41-year-old Centralia man was cited for third-degree theft in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 1:35 p.m. on Dec. 6 after he allegedly stole foam earplugs from a store. 

• A generator was reported stolen from the 700 block of Euclid Way just after 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A theft reported in the 900 block of L Street at 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 7 is under investigation. 

 

Burglary 

• A burglary with a total loss amount of $50,000 was reported in the 200 block of East Van Buren Street just after 4:10 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A homeless woman from Lacey was trespassed from property in the 100 block of North Gold Street just after 10:35 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A homeless man found sleeping in a customer-only area inside a business in the 200 block of Centralia College Building at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 7 was trespassed from the property. 

• A disorderly man was trespassed from a business property in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue just before 4:35 a.m. on Dec. 8. 

False threat 

• A report of a possible school shooting at Centralia Middle School was reported just after 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 7. “After a thorough investigation, it was found no students made active threats to shoot/injure the school,” the Centralia Police Department stated in a news release. 

 

Agency assists 

• Centralia officers helped Child Protective Services transport a subject in the 700 block of South Gold Street to the hospital for mental health services just after 2:05 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

• Centralia officers helped Child Protective Services transport a 13-year-old female from the 700 block of South Tower Avenue to the hospital for an involuntary treatment evaluation at 10:20 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury vehicle collision was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A 1-year-old child sustained possible minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision reported in the 1800 block of North National Avenue at approximately 3:05 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northeast Boistfort Street and Northeast Cascade Avenue just after 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• At 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 6, a caller in the 400 block of Southwest 13th Street reported a male subject was “crying hysterically” about not getting to plead his court case, screaming “You just ruined my life” and advised he was having a mental breakdown. 

• A male subject at a business in the 600 block of West Main Street was reportedly “threatening to kill the clerk and rob the store” at 8:35 p.m. on Dec. 7. An employee asked officers to move him along. 

 

Disputes 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 9:55 a.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A verbal dispute about a parking spot was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:40 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just after 3:40 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• Just before 11:45 p.m. on Dec. 6, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest Scott Place reported two people were “beating the sh-t out of each other.” The caller was reportedly “rambling” and refused to answer any questions. 



• Just before 1:05 p.m. on Dec. 7, a caller made a third-hand report of a female subject “assaulting people” in the 300 block of West Main Street. 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

 

Fraud 

• A case of credit card fraud reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 6 is under investigation. 

 

Theft 

• At approximately 7:05 p.m. on Dec. 6, a caller in the 500 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue asked an officer to “come speak 12-year-old son” about “him stealing money.” 

• A subject was cited for third-degree theft in the 300 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue just before 3:20 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

 

Burglary 

• At 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 8, a business in the 10 block of Northeast Median Street reported a burglary had occurred sometime overnight. The side door to the business was reportedly “smashed in” and items were missing from inside. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A subject was reportedly trespassing on a neighbor’s property in the 200 block of Southwest James Street just after 3:20 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• Two homeless subjects were reportedly camping inside a post office in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just after 6:55 p.m. on Dec. 6. 

• A disorderly customer who was reportedly “being hostile with staff” at a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 8:50 p.m. on Dec. 6 was trespassed from the business. 

• Just after 3:05 p.m. on Dec. 7, a caller reported an ongoing issue with “trespassers using the restroom at the front door” of a business in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. 

• Two male subjects were moved along from the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 3:10 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

• A homeless man was trespassed from a residence in the 10 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue at 4:55 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• At 3:40 p.m. on Dec. 6, a caller in the 10 block of Northeast Median Street reported a “male came into the bathroom and changed into a skirt.” 

• Two male subjects reportedly “looked like they were trying to break the door” to a business in the 1300 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after midnight on Dec. 7. 

 

Obstructing public servant 

• A male subject who had a knife on his belt and a machete in his backpack was reportedly “yelling and making threats” in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 7. He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for obstructing a public servant. 

 

Wellness check 

• A male subject who was “obviously” in distress was reportedly laying on the side of the roadway in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 7. 

 

Drug violation 

• A subject was cited for a narcotics violation in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at 2:55 a.m. on Dec. 8. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 142 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 106 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
