Sirens: A relentless alcohol thief; man jailed for felony DUI; local jail statistics

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Marcy Khan, 55, California, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged third-degree theft and third-degree attempted theft in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue at about 1:36 p.m. Jan. 9. According to police, Khan was unsuccessful in stealing alcohol from one business because the storekeeper took it from her as she was leaving. Khan allegedly crossed the street and attempted to steal alcohol from another store, but was apprehended by officers.

• Xingyong Han, 37, of Rosemead, California, and Dan Liu, 36, of Monterey Park, California, were arrested in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 9:29 p.m. Jan. 9 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree assault.

• Trevor K. Craig, 25, Centralia, was arrested in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue at about 7:01 p.m. Jan. 10 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged second-degree criminal trespassing and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

• Clarence J. Rodgers, 41, Centralia, was arrested in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue at about 5:41 p.m. Jan. 11 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft after allegedly stealing a necklace from a local store.

• Royce A. Blankenship, 57, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged second-degree trespassing, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Officers allegedly located suspected methamphetamine and a drug pipe during a search incident to arrest.

Accidents

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1000 block of South Gold Street at about 9:16 a.m. Jan. 9. The case is under investigation.

• A two-vehicle accident with no injuries was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 12:29 p.m. Jan. 9.

• A two-vehicle collision with minor injuries was reported at the corner of Kresky Avenue and East Summa Street at about 3:08 p.m. Jan. 9.

Assault

• A juvenile was arrested in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue at about 5:12 p.m. Jan. 9 and booked into Lewis County Juvenile Detention for alleged fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence.

Criminal trespassing

• A transient from Arizona was trespassed from private property in the 100 block of South Silver Street at about 12:36 p.m. Jan. 10.

DUI

• Jose Ramirez Ruiz, 41, Centralia, was arrested at the corner of East Third Street and North Tower Avenue at about 12:03 a.m. Jan. 10 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an alleged felony DUI. Ramirez Ruiz was also referred for other driving-related offenses. The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office declined to charge Ramirez Ruiz for felony DUI.

• Jeena L. Puckett, 59, Olympia, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in the 2500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 4:01 p.m. Jan. 11.



Order violation

• An order violation was reported in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road at about 2:39 p.m. Jan. 9. The case is under investigation.

Reckless burning

• A transient from Cowlitz County was warned for reckless burning in the 400 block of Harrison Avenue at about 12:16 p.m. Jan. 10.

Recovered stolen vehicle

• Officers recovered an unoccupied stolen vehicle from Tacoma in the 1300 block of Delaware Avenue at about 1:41 a.m. Jan. 9.

Vehicle prowl

• An unknown suspect reportedly removed a book from an unlocked vehicle in the 300 block of Jackson Street at about 11:52 a.m. Jan. 9. No other items were reported stolen.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Jan. 12, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 182 inmates, including 169 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 132 were reported male and 37 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Jan. 12, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 21 inmates. Of those, 11 were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis and six were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Quileute Nation, Suquamish Tribe and Tulalip Tribe.
