Sirens: 'Aggressive Transient' Angry at City Worker; Pride Flags Trashed; Surveillance Leads to Arrest of Motorist Who Fled Police

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A Winlock man was arrested in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just before 8:05 a.m. on June 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass. 

• Officers were asked to contact an “aggressive transient male from Centralia” in the 100 block of North Pearl Street just after 4:20 a.m. on June 23 after the male reportedly “became angry at a city worker who was watering flowers for not filling up his water bottle,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Just after 8:30 a.m. on June 21, officers were advised of a malicious mischief incident that occurred in the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard on June 16. Several Pride flags had been removed from several tables and thrown in the garbage by the suspects. The case is under investigation.

• Just after 11:15 a.m. on June 21, there was a report that an unknown subject(s) cut plastic sheeting in the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard. 

 

Theft 

• A subject was cited for third-degree theft in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 8:50 a.m. on June 21. 

• At approximately 8:25 p.m. on June 21, there was a report that a purse was stolen from a shipping cart inside a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue while the victim was shopping. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 12:25 p.m. on June 21. Both vehicles sustained minor damage to the driver’s side mirrors. 

• A child sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision reported at the intersection of West Main Street and North Tower Avenue just after 1:05 p.m. on June 21. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just after 4:20 p.m. on June 21. 

 

Eluding Police 

• A motorcycle “recklessly fled from police” when an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop for speeding in the 100 block of North Pearl Street just before 7:25 p.m. on June 21. 

• A late 1990’s to early 2000’s Grey Honda fled from police as officers tried to make a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 110 block of West Maple Street at 12:40 a.m. on June 20. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle that had fled from Thurston County deputies earlier in the night, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers did not pursue the suspect vehicle, following the current state laws, according to the department. 

• A 32-year-old Centralia man, was arrested at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5 at 9:40 p.m. on June 22. for attempting to elude and reckless endangerment after he allegedly fled from officers twice within a one-hour timeframe. Officers reportedly “set up on surveillance near his residence and were able to apprehend him as he got out of his vehicle to open a gate,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Assault 

• A juvenile male was arrested in the 1200 block of J Street just after 3:30 a.m. on June 22 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

• A Centralia man was cited for fourth-degree assault after he allegedly shoved a woman to the ground in the 500 block of Jefferson Street just after 12:15 p.m. on June 22. 

 

Burglary 

• Two Chehalis residents were arrested in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at approximately midnight on June 22 and were booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after they were “found inside a rental building they had not paid for.” 

 

Drug Violation 

• A Rochester woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street just after 3:35 p.m. on June 22. 



 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, single-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of state Route 6 and Southwest Riverside Drive just before 7:55 a.m. on June 21 after a driver “dozed off.” 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:55 p.m. on June 22. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just before 11:35 a.m. on June 21. 

 

Assault 

• A male subject was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 2:15 p.m. on June 21. 

 

Theft 

• A case of attempted theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:40 p.m. on June 21 is under investigation. 

• A couple hundred dollars worth of merchandise was reported stolen from the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just before 9:15 p.m. on June 22.

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A man was arrested in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just after 9:35 a.m. on June 22 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct after he allegedly went into the lobby of a business and was “screaming at employees.” 

• A homeless man was reportedly “screaming at everyone and no one” in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:45 p.m. on June 22. 

• A disorderly male at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way was reportedly “walking into traffic, pointing his finger at people … like it was a gun and yelling ‘bang’” just after 1:45 p.m. on June 22. 

• A customer reportedly got “upset” inside a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 6:55 p.m. on June 22, “swung the door open and it broke.” The man and his wife reportedly continued yelling at employees after the door broke. They were both trespassed from the business. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• Damage to a doorknob and deadbolt on the back door of an address in the 300 block of Northwest State Avenue was reported at 10:20 a.m. on June 22. 

 

Physical Control 

• A case of physical control reported at the intersection of Southwest 13th Street and South Market Boulevard just after 3:25 a.m. on June 23 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 140 inmates, including 126 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 126 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
