CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Christian Pantoja-Martinez, 24, Rochester, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault (domestic violence), second-degree burglary (domestic violence) and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence in the 200 block of South Diamond Street at about 7:45 p.m. March 6, after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, choked her and threw her phone across the room when she attempted to contact 911.
• Miriam V. Garcia Avelar, 38, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged third-degree theft in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 1:32 p.m. March 7.
• Dhaymion R. Leder, 25, Chehalis, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) in the 1400 block of Johnson Road at about 5:17 a.m. March 8.
• Cheryl D. Smothers, 66, Copalis Beach, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue at about 11:59 p.m. March 8. Police said they contacted Smothers sleeping in a vehicle and saw drug paraphernalia inside. They later searched the vehicle and reportedly found drug packaging, a scale and over an ounce of suspected methamphetamine.
Accidents
• A two-vehicle collision with no reported injuries occurred near the corner of East Summa Street and Kresky Avenue at about 10:20 a.m. March 6.
Assault
• A dispute that occurred over a week ago was reported in the 700 block of Pioneer Way at about 2:39 p.m. March 8. The case is under investigation.
Criminal trespass
• Two transient individuals were trespassed from a property in the 500 block of East Plum Street at about 9:08 a.m. March 6 after it was discovered they had set up a campsite without the owner’s permission.
Malicious mischief
• Officers received a report of damage to a vehicle in the 1000 block of West Second Street at about 9:04 a.m. March 7. The case is under investigation.
Drug paraphernalia
• Brian D. Veach, 44, Morton, was issued a criminal citation for alleged use of drug paraphernalia in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street at about 12:32 a.m. March 8. Police said they located Veach passed out in a vehicle with drug paraphernalia around him.
Robbery
• A robbery that occurred last month was reported in the 2500 block of Mount Vista Road at about 3:48 p.m. March 8. Police said they have identified suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
Suspicious circumstances
• A resident reported in the 900 block of West Plum Street at about 5:44 a.m. March 8 that they arrived home to find their apartment had previously caught fire, but self-extinguished. Thousands of dollars in damages were noted. The Centralia Police Department’s detectives division and the Riverside Fire Authority are investigating the case.
Theft
• Two bicycles were reported stolen in the 1100 block of G Street at about 3:33 p.m. March 8.
• Theft of a bicycle was reported in the 2800 block of Russell Road at about 6:04 p.m. March 8.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS
• As of March 9, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 164 inmates, including 150 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 124 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of March 8, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 12 inmates. Of those, eight were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis and two were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one from the Suquamish Tribe.
