Sirens: Arson; Juvenile Chases Someone With BB Gun; 'Yelling at Traffic and Trying to Attack Cars'

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Arson 

• A case of arson reported in the 200 block of Southwest First Street just before 8:30 a.m. on March 10 is under investigation. 

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Southwest State and Northwest Maryland avenues just before 8:45 a.m. on March 10. 

 

Burglary 

• Just after 11 a.m. on March 10, a burglary to a business in the 2100 block of North National Avenue that occurred the previous night was reported.  

• Just before 12:45 p.m. on March 10, a burglary to a shed in the 10 block of Southwest Fourth Street that occurred sometime the previous day was reported. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of possible harassment was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 12:30 p.m. on March 10. 

• A case of harassment was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street at approximately 10:10 a.m. on March 11. 

• A juvenile was cited for harassment after they reportedly chased a person with a BB gun in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after 6:15 p.m. on March 12. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A woman who was reportedly “yelling at traffic and trying to attack cars” in the 200 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just before 2 p.m. was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct. 

• A man was reportedly yelling outside a business in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue just after 11:40 a.m. on March 12. 

 

Theft 

• A subject was cited for third-degree theft in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:10 p.m. on March 10. 

• Six bottles of alcohol were reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 9:55 a.m. on March 11. 

 

Dispute 

• A “family disturbance/dispute” was reported in the 500 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue just after 5:20 p.m. on March 10. 

 

Rape 

• A case of third-degree tape reported in the 1500 block of Rice Road at approximately 10:50 p.m. on March 10 is under investigation. 

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly Conduct 



• Just after 10:55 a.m. on March 10, “concerned citizens” called to report a man “who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance” was “acting irrationally, talking to himself and walking into traffic” in the 400 block of South Tower Avenue. The man, an Olympia resident, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Mellen and Yew streets just after 3:50 p.m. on March 10. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West Center Street at approximately 7:40 p.m. on March 10. 

• A single vehicle ran into a light pole in the 800 block of West First Street, knocking it down, just before 5:20 p.m. on March 12. Injuries were reported. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and West Cherry Street at approximately 5:35 p.m. on March 12. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• Just before 5:30 p.m. on March 12, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 100 block of North Gold Street sometime the previous day was reported. 

 

Escape 

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1500 block of Johnson Road just after 5:55 p.m. on March 10 on an outstanding warrant. During the arrest, the man allegedly escaped from officers and ran. He was recaptured about a block away and was booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

 

Theft 

• Tools were reported stolen from a hardware store in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just after 9:40 p.m. on March 11. 

• Items were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 200 block of Railroad Avenue at 12:45 p.m. on March 11. 

• Three bottles of alcohol were reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 5:25 p.m. on March 11. 

 

Burglary 

• A burglary to a business in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue was reported at 6:05 p.m. on March 11. Four suspects reportedly hid in the toy area of  the business then, after the business closed, the suspects came out from hiding and stole $200 from a cash register before exiting out a window. This case is still under investigation.

 

Assault 

• An 18-year-old Centralia man was referred to the Centralia Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for charges of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, following an incident reported in the 1800 block of Ahlers Avenue just after 6:20 p.m. on March 12. 

 

Drug Violation

• Three subjects were trespassed from a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at 11 p.m. on March 12 after officers contacted them regarding suspicious drug activity. Several pieces of drug paraphernalia were removed from the subjects’ vehicle. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 174 inmates, including 161 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 130 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
