Sirens: “Asian-style sword” brandished during bar dispute; driver forced off the road by vehicle; sexual assault reported

Arrests and citations

• Michael C. Novion was issued criminal citations for alleged second-degree criminal trespass and urination and/or defecating in public in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at about 1:56 a.m. June 24. The arrest followed a report of a male entering a store and then grabbing and opening multiple items. Police booked Novion into the Lewis County Jail.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• John Kidrick, 65, Centralia, was arrested in the 1100 block of West First Street at about 9:44 p.m. June 24 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant for alleged second-degree vehicle prowl and third-degree theft. Kidrick was also accused of alleged possession of a controlled substance and use/delivery of drug paraphernalia after police found him with suspected methamphetamine and a pipe during his arrest.

• Frank Flores, 40, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged reckless endangerment, first-degree negligent driving, weapons capable of causing bodily harm, weapons prohibited in certain places and second-degree criminal trespass in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at about 9:23 p.m. June 25. Police said Flores allegedly brandished a multi-foot “Asian-style sword” during a dispute at a local drinking establishment.

DUI

• Dale Wilson, 59, Centralia, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence near the corner of West Main Street and South Yew Street at about 11:43 a.m. June 25.

Fraud

• A local resident reported in the 200 block of M Street at about 3:39 p.m. June 25 that someone had used his name to purchase insurance. The resident said he was now receiving notifications from a collection agency.

Harassment

• Police investigated a report of an individual inappropriately accessing someone else’s electronic account in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue at about 10:40 a.m. June 25.

Hit-and-run

• A driver was reportedly forced off the road by a blue pick-up truck at about 12:56 p.m. June 24. The driver hit a pole near the corner of West First Street and F Street. The case is under investigation.

Nuisance violations

• A 37-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 5:19 p.m. June 24 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for violation of Centralia Municipal Code after police observed him walking along a crosswalk while allegedly carrying a can of malt liquor.



• A 55-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 100 block of East Pine Street at about 10:39 p.m. June 24 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court arrest warrant for alleged use/possession of an open alcohol container in public. The man was also arrested for alleged use/possession of an open alcohol container in public after police allegedly found him with a mixed drink while sitting on city property.

Protection order violation

• Police investigated a reported no-contact order violation in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard at about 2:11 a.m. June 26.

Rape

• Police received a report of forcible sexual assault in the 1400 block of Johnson Road at about 4:50 p.m. June 24. Police said the suspect is known and the case is under investigation.

Theft

• An unidentified male riding a bicycle stole property from a local business in the 600 block of West Pear Street at about 9:01 a.m. June 24. The case is under investigation.

• An electric scooter was stolen in the 600 block of West Pear Street at about 4:33 p.m. June 24. Police said there is video surveillance of the theft. The case is under investigation.

• Numerous items were reported stolen from a car in the 1200 block of North Washington Avenue at about 4:02 p.m. June 25. Police said some of the items were later found in a nearby garbage can.

• Two unidentified males stole numerous clothing items from a local business in the 1300 block of Lum Road at about 4:14 p.m. June 25. The suspects reportedly left the scene in a silver Mercedes. The case is under investigation.

• Cheryl Smothers, 66, Centralia, was issued a criminal citation for third-degree theft after allegedly stealing a wheelchair from a local medical facility in the 1800 block of Westside Court at about 12:55 a.m. June 26.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of June 26, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 129 inmates, including 116 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 96 were reported male and 20 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of June 26, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 19 inmates. Of those, six were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis and six were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were three from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and the Skokomish Tribe.
