Sirens: Bikini coffee stand customer alleges sexual harassment; man arrested for indecent exposure; 'large amount' of meth, cash found in vehicle

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A homeless man who reportedly set up camp at Borst Park in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue was trespassed from the park just after 9:10 a.m. on Aug. 16.

• Just before 12:05 p.m. on Aug. 16, a citizen reported someone was sleeping in a shed on private property in the 300 block of West Main Street.

• A homeless Winlock man was trespassed from a store in the 100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Aug. 17.

• A homeless man was trespassed from a business in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard just before 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 18 for disorderly conduct.

• A Centralia resident was trespassed from a residence in the 700 block of North Pearl Street just after 9:55 p.m. on Aug. 18 for disorderly conduct.

 

Theft

• A pair of shoes was reported stolen from a garage sale in the 200 block of M Street at 9:35 a.m. on Aug. 16.

• A 56-year-old Tacoma woman was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an organized retail theft reported in the 1400 block of Lum Road just after 10:50 a.m. on Aug. 16. Officers reportedly found stolen clothing and “a large magnet used for removing security devices” in the woman’s vehicle.

• A rental vehicle was reported stolen from the 1000 block of South Gold Street just after 1:35 p.m. on Aug. 18. The vehicle was later found in Chehalis.

• A felony theft reported at an outlet store in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 is under investigation.

 

Indecent exposure

• A 62-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 300 block of Spruce Street just before 7 a.m. on Aug. 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for indecent exposure.

 

DUI

• A 37-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for a DUI at the intersection of West Reynolds Avenue and Van Wormer Street at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 17.

• A 51-year-old Centralia man was arrested for a DUI at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and Atherton Street just after 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 17.

• A juvenile was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for a DUI in the 200 block of West Pine Street just after 5:15 a.m. on Aug. 18.

 

Assault

• A possible fourth-degree assault that occurred at a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 18 is under investigation.

 

Drug violation

• While conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of West First and K streets at 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 19, officers “developed suspicion of possible narcotics in the vehicle,” according to the Centralia Police Department. With the assistance of a K9, officers located a large amount of cash and meth concealed in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and released.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in a roundabout in the 700 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just before 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 16.

• A possibly intoxicated driver crashed into a car parked in a driveway in the 10 block of Southeast 16th Street just before 2:50 a.m. on Aug. 17. No injuries were reported.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run to a left-turn-only sign at the intersection of Northeast Washington Avenue and Northeast Division Street was reported just after 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 16.

 

Disorderly conduct

• Just after 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 18, an employee at a tire center in the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a customer was “showing signs of being intoxicated, has peed his pants and (was) stumbling.” The business refused to release the customer’s vehicle back to him. Police made arrangements with the customer’s wife to pick up the vehicle at a later time. 

• A man was reportedly taking his clothes off and dancing in the street in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 4 p.m. on Aug. 17.

 

Animal negligence/abuse

• Just after 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 16, a citizen reported a dog had been locked in a car with its windows rolled up in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue for over 30 minutes. The vehicle’s owner returned to the vehicle and “cussed (the reporting party) up and down, then left” about 5 minutes after the initial call.



 

Criminal trespass

• A criminal trespass reported in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 8:55 p.m. on Aug. 16 is under investigation.

 

Drug violation

• A drug violation reported in the 600 block of West Main Street at 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 16 is under investigation.

 

Harassment

• Harassment reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Aug. 17 is under investigation.

• Possible online harassment was reported in the 700 block of Northwest West Street just after 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 17.

• A customer at a bikini coffee stand in the 200 block of West Main Street reported possible sexual harassment at 6:25 a.m. on Aug. 18. He said he was “concerned because he didn’t expect the ladies at the stand to reveal themselves and it made him feel sexually harassed,” and asked how he could get his money back from the coffee shop. He was referred to the coffee company’s headquarters and was “advised to stop going there if he did not like the service provided.”

• Possible telephonic harassment by a 14-year-old was reported at the intersection of Southeast Third Street and South Market Boulevard at 1:55 p.m. on Aug. 18.

• A man reportedly threatened a female employee at a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 7:40 p.m. on Aug. 18.

 

Unaccompanied minors

• Two children around the age of 4 were reportedly “wandering around the street and sidewalk” in the 100 block of Southeast 16th Street just before 5:10 p.m. on Aug. 17.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A citizen reported “his vehicle has been hacked and he’s having trouble driving” in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 17.

• A man was reportedly “walking around in circles” in the 2500 block of North National Avenue just after 4:55 a.m. on Aug. 19.

 

Disputes

• A citizen reported someone was chasing him with a pole and threw rocks at him at a bar in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 17. The reporting party threatened to beat up the suspect.

• A “road rage” dispute was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:55 p.m. on Aug. 18. No injuries were reported.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man was reportedly sleeping under a stairwell inside a post office in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just before 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 18.

• A subject reportedly broke into a train car in the 1100 block of Southwest Sylvenus Street at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 18.

 

Malicious mischief

• A man reportedly stabbed three knives into planter boxes in the 10 block of Northeast Median Street at approximately 7 a.m. on Aug. 19.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 52 illness-related calls, 24 injury-related calls, 28 fire-related calls, 15 non-emergency service calls, six vehicle accidents, two ambulance requests, two Lifeline medical alerts, one department assist, one public assist, one 911 hangup call and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 142 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 101 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 13 inmates, including five booked by the Centralia Police Department, four booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by the Skokomish Tribe.
