Sirens: Caller thinks children are playing with gun; crime reported at Green Hill; man arrested for attacking woman

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Disorderly conduct

• A 44-year-old homeless Packwood man was warned for disorderly conduct in the 200 block of East Plum Street at approximately 9 a.m. on May 27.

• A 44-year-old homeless Packwood man was warned for disorderly conduct in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue just before 11:45 a.m. on May 27.

• A 34-year-old homeless Centralia man was arrested on an outstanding Chehalis Municipal Court warrant after he was reported for disorderly conduct in the 1000 block of West Main Street at 2:50 p.m. on May 27.

• Officers were dispatched to a report of a disorderly male in the area of the Pine Street Plaza in the 100 block of East Pine Street just after 5:25 p.m. on May 27. The male picked up his belongings and moved along.

• A homeless person was reportedly “walking around, yelling and screaming” in the 400 block of State Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. on May 28.

 

Malicious mischief

• A broken window was reported in the 3000 block of borst Avenue at 10:25 a.m. on May 27.

 

Theft

• A car was reported stolen from a business in the 1000 block of North Pearl Street just before 8:15 a.m. on May 28.

• An older man reportedly walked out of a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue with one of the checkout product scanners after purchasing an item just after 6:30 p.m. on May 28. The man was last seen heading towards Borst Park. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspect.

 

Wellness check

• Officers were asked to check on a person in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue who was “making concerning comments to out-of-state family members.” Officers confirmed the person “was doing well.”

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Union and South Gold streets just after 11:10 a.m. on May 28. One vehicle reportedly collided with another vehicle that had right-of-way.

 

Drug violation

• Officers responded to the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at 4:10 a.m. on May 29 for a report of a suspicious male passed out in a vehicle. Drug paraphernalia was observed in the car. The car was impounded pending a search warrant. This case is still under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Fraud

• A citizen in the 200 block of Southwest 15th Street reported someone possibly hacked her Costco account just after 11:20 a.m. on May 24.

• A case of non-specific fraud reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. on May 26 is under investigation.

• A phone scam was reported in the 1500 block of Southwest Eighth Street just after 7 p.m. on May 27.

 

Theft

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:40 p.m. on May 24 is under investigation.

• A purse was reported stolen from an impounded vehicle in the 700 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 7:10 a.m. on May 24.

• A rear license plate was reported stolen from the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 7:25 a.m. on May 25.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on May 25 is under investigation.

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:40 a.m. on May 28.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just after 4:05 a.m. on May 28 is under investigation.

• A shoplift that occurred in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue sometime over the weekend was reported just after 7:45 a.m. on May 28.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just after 2:50 p.m. on May 28 is under investigation.

 

Disputes

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 2:20 p.m. on May 24.

• A citizen in the 100 block of Southwest Eighth Street reported a possible altercation just after 7 p.m. on May 27. The citizen reported his ex-girlfriend was sitting in her car at his house playing loud music. He reported he “hasn’t seen her in seven years and doesn’t know why she is there.” She left the scene a few minutes later.

• A “disturbance/dispute” reported in the 1400 block of Southwest Mills Avenue just after 8:45 p.m. on May 27 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accidents

• Minor injuries were reported at the intersection of Southwest State Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at approximately 4:10 p.m. on May 24.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Southwest Parkland Drive and northbound Interstate 5 just before 1:45 p.m. on May 27.

• A minor-, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:20 p.m. on May 28.

 

Juvenile problems

• Children were reportedly playing with an object that looked like a gun in the 1500 block of South Market Boulevard just before 4:35 p.m. on May 24. The children said it was a squirt gun, while the reporting party stated she heard it make “loud popping noises” and it “scared her to death.” She was reportedly “hysterically crying” on the phone with law enforcement.



• A 12-year-old boy reportedly threatened to slit his juvenile sister’s throat in the 2000 block of Southwest Salsbury Avenue just after 10:15 a.m. on May 25. The boy did not have access to any weapons.

• A caller reported he wanted a “mouthy 13-year-old female” to get out of his car in the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:10 p.m. on May 27.

 

Disorderly conduct

• Just before 1:30 a.m. on May 25, a business in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place reported a male subject was repeatedly entering the business, taking coffee and leaving.

• A man in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard called 911 just after 6:15 a.m. on May 25 to try and stop a woman from moving things inside of their shared apartment that early in the morning. Both parties were given information on local domestic violence resources.

• A man was reportedly yelling and hitting the side of a business in the 600 block of North National Avenue just before 9:10 p.m. on May 25. The man advised the door broke on his car and he “yelled because he was upset.”

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A citizen asked officers to move along a man who was going door-to-door in the 600 block of Southeast Prospect Street offering ant control services just after 2:20 p.m. on May 25. The man left on his own accord.

• A male subject was reportedly talking to two kids “in an awkward way like they weren’t his kids” in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 3:50 p.m. on May 25.

• An unidentified white substance was found in a shopping cart in the 1300 black of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:20 p.m. on May 26.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man was trespassed from a property in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just after 2:40 p.m. on May 25.

• A squatter was reported on a property in the 700 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue at 6:10 p.m. on May 25.

• Just before 7:35 p.m. on May 26, a citizen in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court reported seeing their neighbor walk out of their living room a couple hours prior.

• A homeless camp was reported under a bridge at the intersection of Southwest Newaukum Avenue and Shorey Road just before 11:15 a.m. on May 27.

• A homeless woman reportedly refused to leave a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 7:45 p.m. on May 28.

 

Hazard

• A citizen reported a hazardous sidewalk at the intersection of Northeast Washington Avenue and Northeast School Street just after 3:40 p.m. on May 25. The reporting party advised that her husband fell due to the poor condition of the sidewalk, and advised “her husband doesn’t fall and is not frail.”

 

Unlawful weapon display

• Just after 6:45 p.m. on May 25, a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a previously unreported incident involving the unlawful display of a weapon.

 

Reckless burning

• A subject was arrested for first-degree reckless burning in the 2500 block of North National Avenue at 7:30 p.m. on May 25.

 

Harassment

• Harassment reported in the 1400 block of Southwest Mills Avenue at 6:05 a.m. on May 28 is under investigation.

• A citizen in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported her ex-boyfriend was harassing her over the phone just before 12:40 p.m. on May 28. He reportedly told her he had a crowbar and would use it to break into her home in Onalaska and retrieve his belongings if she was not home when she arrived. She was advised to contact the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A citizen reported a man was possibly harassing her in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:10 p.m. on May 28. Officers determined no crime had occurred at the time of the report. She was given civil options for moving forward if the problem continues.

 

Assault

• James Harry Hart, 50, was arrested after a woman in the 800 block of Southeast Adams Avenue called 911 at approximately 3:15 a.m. on May 28 to report he knocked on her door, choked her and ripped her clothes. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, domestic violence at 10:25 a.m. on May 28, according to jail records. A preliminary hearing was scheduled in Lewis County Superior Court at 4 p.m. on May 29.

• A fourth-degree assault was reported in the 100 block of Southwest 20th Street at approximately 11 a.m. on May 28. 

 

Green Hill School reports

  Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street reported four non-specific crimes at approximately 11:05 a.m. on May 28.

• Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street reported two marijuana violations at approximately 11:05 a.m. on May 28.

• Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street reported one drug violation at approximately 11:05 a.m. on May 28.

• Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street reported one unlawful possession case at approximately 11:05 a.m. on May 28.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 45 illness-related calls, 18 injury-related calls, four fire-related calls, 10 non-emergency service calls, seven vehicle accidents, three overdoses, one Lifeline medical alert, one medical helicopter request, one rescue and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 142 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 10 inmates, including five booked by the Centralia Police Department, four booked by the state Department of Corrections and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
