Sirens: Carrying a Machete; DUI Arrests; Woman Sells Diapers, Makes Threats; Dog in Hot Car; Indecent Exposure

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal Trespass 

• Officers responded to a report of homeless people attempting to set up camp on private property at the intersection of Galvin Road and Steelhammer Drive just after 10:45 a.m. on May 19. 

• A subject was reportedly refusing to leave someone else’s house in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road just before 4:55 p.m. on May 20. The subject left after they were contacted by police. 

• A homeless man from Seattle was reportedly trespassing on private property in the 400 block of West Main Street at approximately 9:20 a.m. on May 21. 

 

Theft 

• A third-degree theft reported at a business in the 1500 block of Lum Road just after 2:25 p.m. on May 19 is under investigation. 

• A Des Moines woman was arrested in the 1400 block of Lum Road at 3:55 p.m. on May 19 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle after officers contacted her for shoplifting. 

• A Chehalis woman was cited for third-degree theft after she was found with stolen leggings in her possession. She was also cited for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers searched her vehicle and found “illegal items in the area she was sitting in at the time of her arrest.” 

• Vitamin Water was reported stolen from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 3 p.m. on May 20. 

• A third-degree theft reported at a business in the 100 block of West High Street just after 5 p.m. on May 20 is under investigation. 

• A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Johnson Road at approximately 7:05 p.m. on May 20. The purse had reportedly been left on a seat inside the vehicle and the suspect damaged the vehicle to steal the purse. 

• A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of North Pearl Street at 12:40 p.m. on May 21. 

• Two juvenile males from Tacoma were arrested in the 1400 block of Lum Road at 1:55 p.m. on May 21 and were booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for shoplifting and providing false names to law enforcement.

• A Centralia woman was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at 6:25 p.m. on May 21. 

 

Public Assist 

• At approximately 12:10 p.m. on May 20, officers assisted in unlocking a vehicle door after the owner locked their keys in their vehicle in the 1900 block of South Gold Street. 

 

Counterfeiting 

• A counterfeit $20 bill was recovered in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 10:20 a.m. on May 20 after it was given to a panhandler who then tried to buy lottery tickets with it. 

 

Medical Assist 

• Officers responded to a report of a non-responsive male inside a vehicle parked at a business’ parking lot in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. on May 19. Officers were able to wake the male up, but “due to his state of consciousness, medics were requested to the scene to evaluate the male.” No arrests were made. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• Officers responded to a report of a male subject carrying a machete in the parking lot of a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 7:10 a.m. on May 20. The subject, a homeless man from Chehalis, told officers “he was carrying the machete but not threatening anyone with it.” The machete was thrown away at the man’s request. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Just before 12:45 p.m. on May 20, officers received a report of an unknown subject damaging a vehicle in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue. 

 

Found Animal 

• At 1:10 p.m. on May 20, officers received a report that a border collie puppy was found in the 900 block of East Locust Street. The puppy is being cared for until its owners are located. 

 

Dispute 

• A dispute was reported at the intersection of West Walnut Street and Tilley Avenue at 4:45 p.m. on May 20. All parties left the scene before officers arrived. 

 

DUI 

• Jose L. Recinos-Nolasco, 42, of Centralia, was arrested at the intersection of Northeast Kresky and North National avenues at approximately 9:40 p.m. on May 20 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

• Amy M. McNeil, 48, of Anacortes, was arrested at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Denny Way just before 10:55 p.m. on May 20 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly Conduct 

• At 8:25 a.m. on May 19, there was a report of a homeless woman outside of the post office in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue “making threats,” which included telling someone, “I hope you die.” No arrests were made. 

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “dumping trash” in the lobby of a business in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 3 p.m. on May 19. 

• A woman was reportedly “yelling frantically ‘get up’ at a baby stroller” at the intersection of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and Northwest North Street just after 4:50 p.m. on May 19. 

• At 5:35 a.m. on May 20, there was a report that a woman had been “screaming for (the) last 1.5 hours” in the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue. 

• A woman was reportedly “screaming at the top of her lungs (and) throwing things at cars” at the intersection of Northeast Washington Avenue and Northeast Division Street just before 10:25 a.m. on May 21.

 

Criminal Trespass 

• A woman who appeared to be “selling diapers” and threatening employees outside a business in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:05 p.m. on May 19 was trespassed from the property. 

• A homeless subject was reportedly trespassing on the back stoop of a property in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 9:55 a.m. on May 20. The subject “moved along without issue.” 



• A case of possible trespassing was reported in the 500 block of Northeast Adams Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. on May 20. 

• Two female subjects who were reportedly being disorderly inside a business in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 5:10 p.m. on May 20 were trespassed from the business. 

• Three juveniles were reportedly trespassing on train tracks in the 500 block of Northwest Front Street just after 10 a.m. on May 21. They moved along when asked. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 400 block of Southwest Parkland Drive at approximately 10:55 a.m. on May 21. 

• A case of criminal trespassing reported in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just before 6:20 a.m. on May 22 is under investigation. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, multiple-vehicle collision was reported in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 11:40 a.m. on May 19. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northeast Louisiana Avenue just after 1:50 p.m. on May 19. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest State Avenue just before 7:50 a.m. on May 20. 

• A non-injury, three-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and southbound Interstate 5 just after 10:20 p.m. on May 20. Two vehicles were towed from the scene. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A case of third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 12:40 p.m. on May 19 is under investigation. 

 

Dog in Hot Car 

• A dog was reportedly left in a hot car with the windows cracked in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 5:25 p.m. on May 19. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• A man with a holstered knife was reportedly walking around a store in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after 8:15 p.m. on May 19. No threats were reported and no arrests were made. 

• A man reportedly pulled a knife out of a holster inside a library in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 11:05 a.m. on May 20. No threats were reported. The subject was trespassed from the property. 

• A subject was reportedly “casing the vehicles” in a parking lot in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. on May 21. 

 

Indecent Exposure

• A homeless man was reportedly bathing in the splash park in the 400 block of Southwest Parkland Drive and “washing his private parts with kids around” at approximately 12:55 p.m. on May 20. He reportedly put swim shorts on and moved to the side of the splash park shortly after the reporting party called the police. No arrests were made. 

 

Possible Counterfeit 

• A subject reportedly tried to pass a counterfeit $50 bill in the 600 block of North National Avenue just after 6:25 p.m. on May 19. 

 

Theft 

• A case of second-degree theft reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and East Main Street just before 11:50 a.m. on May 20 is under investigation. 

• A phone was reported stolen from a subject while they were in a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:25 p.m. on May 20. 

• A subject was arrested for shoplifting jeans in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 12:45 p.m. on May 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

• Just after 3:05 p.m. on May 21, a caller in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard reported a “male climbed into her car trying to take off in it.” The subject was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

• Two cases of vehicle prowl were reported in the 100 block of Ribelin Road just before 12:10 a.m. on May 22. 

 

Possible DUI 

• A possible DUI was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 3:05 a.m. on May 20. No arrests were made. 

 

Juvenile Problem 

• A “juvenile problem” reported in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street just before 12:55 p.m. on May 20 is under investigation. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of possible text harassment was reported in the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 11 a.m. on May 21. 

 

Sexual Misconduct 

• A case of sexual misconduct reported in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just before 11:25 p.m. on May 21 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 174 inmates, including 159 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 120 were reported male and 39 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
