Sirens: Charges for fentanyl in jail cell; knife threat reported; unlawful imprisonment alleged after patient is restrained

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Nuisance violation

• Christina Dukes, 37, Centralia, was issued a criminal citation for allegedly loitering for drug-intended purposes on city property and consuming narcotics in the 100 block of South Pearl Street at about 2:03 p.m. July 2.

Unlawful imprisonment

• Mary Kamau, 43, Centralia, was referred to Lewis County Superior Court for the charge of unlawful imprisonment after being accused of physically restraining a patient at a care facility in the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 10:22 a.m. July 2.

Theft

• Theft from a local business was reported in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at about 3:58 p.m. July 1. No suspect information was available at the time.

• Two unidentified female suspects stole roughly $500 worth of merchandise from a clothing store in the 100 block of West High Street at about 6:25 p.m. July 1. The case is under investigation. 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Custodial assault

• A juvenile was referred for third-degree assault in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue at about 11:26 p.m. June 30.



LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Preliminary appearances

• Breanna N. Sims, 36, Winlock, made a preliminary appearance July 1 for one count of possession of a controlled substance while in a county or local correctional facility after an officer allegedly found a bag of suspected fentanyl in Sims’ jail cell in March. Sims pleaded not guilty during an arraignment on July 2.

• Adrienne E. Chester, 33, Centralia, made a preliminary appearance July 2 for one count of felony harassment after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife. The court granted the defense’s request for a competency evaluation and ordered a no-bail hold pending the results of the evaluation. A competency review hearing was scheduled for July 23. 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of July 2, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 131 inmates, including 118 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 102 were reported male and 16 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of July 3, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 13 inmates. Of those, three were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis and three were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were three from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and the Skokomish Tribe.
