Preliminary appearances
• Wesley E. Travis, 34, Centralia, made a preliminary appearance Aug. 27 for one count of failure to register as a sex offender. A judge set bail at $5,000 cash or bond. According to court documents, Travis, who had registered as a transient offender, was allegedly living at a fixed residence and was required to report the change of address within three days. Travis allegedly denied he was living at the fixed address. An arraignment hearing was scheduled for Sept. 3.
• James Q. Eberle, 45, Chehalis, made a preliminary appearance Aug. 27 for one count of second-degree assault after he allegedly hit a man in the head with a rock during a physical dispute near the Chehalis Walmart. A judge set bail at $25,000 cash or bond and scheduled an arraignment hearing for Sept. 3.
CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Accidents
• A pedestrian was struck after running into the roadway near the corner of West Cherry Street and South Rock Street at about 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31. Police said the pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Burglary
• Building materials from a construction site were reported stolen in the 1400 block of Salzer Creek Loop at about 1:01 p.m. Sept. 1.
Counterfeiting
• A fake $50 bill was recovered from a local credit union in the 1900 block of South Gold Street at about 10:57 a.m. Aug. 31.
Criminal trespass
• Luke T. Baker, 56, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged first-degree criminal trespass in the 900 block of East Locust Street at about 8:08 a.m. Aug. 31.
• Aaron M. Jernigan-Parish, 31, Louisiana, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged first-degree criminal trespass in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue at about 12:59 p.m. Aug. 31.
Fraud
• Officers investigated the unlawful use of a bank card in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 4:02 p.m. Sept. 1 after a wallet was reported stolen.
Possession of methamphetamine
• Dominic L. Combs, 39, Centralia, was referred to the Centralia prosecutor for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of South Silver Street at about 10:34 a.m. Sept. 1.
Protection order violation
• James L. Hopper, 44, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for an alleged violation of a no-contact order in the 200 block of East Van Buren Street at about 3:46 p.m. Sept. 1.
Theft
• Rae A. Barnes, 41, Centralia, was arrested after allegedly stealing items from a local store in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 3:52 p.m. Aug. 31. Barnes was reportedly found on private property from which she had previously been trespassed.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests and citations
• Jeremy A. Sturdevant, 44, was issued a criminal citation for alleged fourth-degree assault in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard at about 3:35 p.m. Aug. 28.
• Katlyn R. Buss, 28, was issued a criminal citation for alleged third-degree theft in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. Aug. 28.
• Sergio Soto, 23, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged malicious prosecution in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at about 11:19 p.m. Aug. 28.
• Allen W. Lowery Sr., 46, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at about 6:20 p.m. Aug. 29.
• Harry W.E. Lorent, 38, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree assault of a child in the 100 block of Southwest 11th Street at about 3:58 p.m. Aug. 30.
• Christopher M. Jones, 51, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 12:03 p.m. Aug. 31.
• Daniel J.T. Adams, 31, was issued a criminal citation for alleged second-degree criminal trespass in the 600 block of West Main Street at about 1:59 p.m. Sept. 1.
Accidents
• A two-vehicle collision reportedly occurred near the corner of Southwest 13th Street and South Market Boulevard at about 7:55 p.m. Sept. 1.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Sept. 2, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 156 inmates, including 143 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 113 were reported male and 30 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Sept. 2, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 17 inmates. Of those, five were from Centralia, one was from Elma and nine were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were one each from the Lummi Nation and the Chehalis Tribal Court.
