Sirens: Defendants sentenced in Lewis County for assault, stalking, burglary, vehicle theft and more

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Disorderly conduct

• A 71-year-old Centralia man was arrested for disorderly conduct just after 12 p.m. on Feb. 12 after he laid down in the middle of the road in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road and threatened to assault officers “for the sole purpose of wanting to be booked into the jail,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Assault

• A physical altercation reported at a daycare facility in the 2400 block of Cooks Hill Road just after 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 12 is under investigation.

 

Theft

• A glass smoking device was reported stolen from a store in the 100 block of East Bridge Street at 3:05 p.m. on Feb. 12.

 

Vehicle prowl

• Someone reportedly tried to break into a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Scheuber Road just after 2:35 a.m. on Feb. 13. The suspect did not gain entry into the vehicle, but damage to a door handle was reported.

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 1400 block of Johnson Road just after 8:10 a.m. on Feb. 13 that may be linked to another case involving a stolen vehicle is under investigation.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A punched vehicle ignition was reported in the 1800 block of North Pearl Street just after 7:25 p.m. on Feb. 13. The case is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, single-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of East Sixth Street and North Tower Avenue just before 12 p.m. on Feb. 13.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Johnson Road just after 12:20 p.m. on Feb. 13.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 200 block of Downing Road just after 12:40 p.m. on Feb. 13.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of G and West Sixth streets at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Feb. 13.

 

Traffic violation

• A 22-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for driving on a suspended license and reckless driving in the 3100 block of Borst Avenue just after 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 13.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Suspicious circumstances

• A 9-year-old boy wearing a red coat and cowboy boots was reportedly walking up and down the road in the 1200 block of Northwest State Avenue unsupervised at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 12. He told the reporting party that his “parents just let him go wherever.”

• A man was reportedly walking around a parking lot in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way with a large knife at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 12.

 

Scam

• A scam was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1:20 p.m. on Feb. 12.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man with an ax was reported in a stranger’s backyard in the 200 block of Southwest Second Street at 2:05 p.m. on Feb. 12. He was trespassed from the property.

• A homeless man who “made a fortress around the parking lot” in the 100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Feb. 12 was trespassed from the property.

 

Harassment

• An adult was reportedly harassing kids in a driveway in the 800 block of Southwest 20th Street just after 5:50 p.m. on Feb. 12.

 



Juvenile problem

• An out-of-control 10-year-old was reported in the 2000 block of Jackson Highway just after 7:25 p.m. on Feb. 12.

 

Assault

• A custodial assault that occurred in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue on Feb. 11 was reported just after 11:05 a.m. on Feb. 13.

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a vehicle door handle was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. on Feb. 13.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A man with a shopping cart was reportedly walking in the roadway and banging on the windows of passing vehicles at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Airport Road just before 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 13.

 

Dispute

• A domestic dispute was reported in the 10 block of Southwest 11th Street at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Feb. 13.

 

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR   COURT

This is a non-comprehensive list of notable developments with Lewis County Superior Court cases The Chronicle has previously reported on. Change of plea

• Jayden A. Gutierrez, 18, of Centralia, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to one count of second-degree child molestation and one count of third-degree rape. He also entered In Re Barr pleas to three counts of third-degree assault. An In Re Barr plea allows a defendant to plead guilty to a lesser charge in order to receive the benefit of a plea deal. Sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on March 5.

• Tanner Girolamo McNelly, 21, of Chehalis, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to three counts of first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Sentencing is scheduled for 3 p.m. on March 12.

 

Sentencing

• Stephanie Marie Roller, 33, of Port Orchard, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to six counts of second-degree burglary and one count of theft of a motor vehicle. She was sentenced to 29.75 months in a prison-based Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative (DOSA) program, followed by 29.75 months of probation.

• Forest Lea Jones, 41, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to one count of second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission and was sentenced to 20 days in jail with credit for 14 days served. 

• Darren Lee Mosteller, 58, of Toledo, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to one count of first-degree perjury and seven counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He also entered an Alford plea to one count of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, which allows him to take advantage of a plea deal without admitting guilt. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison. A five-year no-contact order protecting the victim is in place.

• Telesforo Francysco-Angel Chigo Velazquez Jr., 22, of Tenino, pleaded guilty Feb. 5 to one count of vehicular assault and was sentenced to six months in jail with credit for 28 days served.

• Junru Wu, 46, pleaded guilty Feb. 5 to one count of unlawful use of a building for drug purposes and was sentenced to 15 days on electronic home monitoring.

• Gilberto Antonio Sanchez Medina, 19, pleaded guilty Feb. 5 to one count of prison riot and was sentenced to 24 months in prison.

• Elijah Treyvon Ford, 21, pleaded guilty Feb. 5 to one count of prison riot and was sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Arturo Alejandro Perez Nava, 32, of Elma, pleaded guilty Feb. 5 to one count each of second-degree burglary and second-degree theft and was sentenced to seven months in jail.

• Perez Nava and his codependent, Tahiri Ponce, 32, were also ordered to pay $1,031.24 in restitution to Ritchie Bros. Ponce pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and second-degree theft charges in August 2024 and was sentenced to three months in jail.

• Sara Kathryn Jackson, 18, of Castle Rock, pleaded guilty Feb. 3 to one count of third-degree assault, one count of stalking and two counts of violation of a protection order. She was sentenced to 14 months in prison followed by 12 months on community custody, during which she’s prohibited from using social media. She’s also ordered to undergo an anger management evaluation and complete all recommended treatment. A no-contact order protecting the victim is in place. Jackson’s two other felony court cases were dismissed.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 46 illness-related calls, 21 injury-related calls, 16 fire-related calls, eight non-emergency service calls, 10 vehicle accidents, two Lifeline medical alerts, one pregnancy-related call, two 911-hangup calls and one other call.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 143 inmates, including 130 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 104 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 18 inmates, including three booked by the Centralia Police Department, 11 booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe and two booked by the Lummi Nation.
