Sirens: Driver Cited for Hit-and-Run After License Falls Off; Rash of Vehicle Thefts; Bathroom Damaged;

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Thefts

• At approximately 7:40 a.m. on April 29, a blue 2001 Saturn L300 was reported stolen sometime overnight.

• A black 1995 Honda Civic was reported stolen from the intersection of West Fourth and L streets at 7 a.m. on April 30.

• A gray 1993 Ford Econoline van was stolen from a parking lot in the 1000 block of Eckerson  Road just after 9:25 a.m. on May 1.

• A vehicle reported stolen out of Thurston County was found and recovered at the intersection of Brotherson and Long roads just before 9:50 a.m. on May 2.

 

Retail Theft

• A Tacoma man was cited for allegedly stealing earrings from an outlet store in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 12:25 p.m. on April 29.

• Items were reported stolen from a store in the 1100 block of West High Street at approximately 4:20 p.m. on April 29.

• A 15-year-old was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 1:30 p.m. on April 30.

• Three Tacoma men were cited for organized retail theft in the 100 block of West High Street just after 6:30 p.m. on April 30 after they allegedly worked together to steal items from a store in the 100 block of West High Street.

• A Centralia woman was cited for shoplifting in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 10:15 a.m. on May 1.

• An unidentified woman reportedly stole liquor from a store in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 11:45 a.m. on May 1.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1400 block of Grand Avenue just after 4:25 p.m. on April 29.

• A backpack and electronic devices were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 800 block of G Street just before 9:45 p.m. on April 29.

• Purses were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 500 block of West First Street just before 11 a.m. on April 30.

 

Other Theft

• A possible cellphone theft was reported in the 1800 block of North Pearl Street at 9:30 a.m. on May 2.

• A white Trek bicycle with a black seat was reported stolen from the 200 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 9:20 a.m. on April 30.

 

Malicious Mischief

• An Olympia man was arrested in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:25 a.m. on April 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly damaging a convenience store bathroom and resisting arrest.

• Graffiti was reported in the 400 block of West Main Street at 11:25 a.m. on April 29.

• A damaged fence was reported in the 1200 block of Ward Street at approximately 1:15 p.m. on April 29.

• At 3:15 p.m. on April 29, there was a report of a male suspect using a pen to write on trash cans around the Centralia College campus.

 

Crashes

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision that occurred on private property in the 100 block of West High Street was reported just after 4:15 p.m. on April 29.

• Injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision that was reported at the intersection of North Pearl Street and Reynolds Avenue at 8:35 p.m. on April 29. The at-fault driver was issued a citation.

 

Hit-and-Run

• Just after 1:35 a.m. on April 30, a white 1999 Ford Expedition reportedly drove through four yards in the 1200 block of North Tower Avenue then fled the scene.  The vehicle lost a license plate when it struck a front porch. Officers located the vehicle and the driver the following day and the driver was cited for hit-and-run.

 

Assault

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 500 block of Madison Street just after 3:15 a.m. on April 30 is under investigation.

• Craig J. Ferguson, 32, of Chehalis, was arrested for first-degree assault and felony harassment in the 1200 block of West Main Street at approximately 4:50 p.m. on May 1 after he allegedly used a firearm to threaten an individual he was previously in a relationship with.



• A possible fourth-degree assault that was reported in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street at 7:05 a.m. on May 2 is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Crashes

• A non-injury, single-vehicle accident was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 11:05 a.m. on April 29. The vehicle was reportedly in the creek when police arrived.

• A woman reported neck pain following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southeast Sixth Street at approximately 1:40 p.m. on April 29.

 

DUI

• A Centralia man was arrested at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest West Street just before 9:30 p.m. on April 30 and was transported to the hospital after he reportedly crashed into a railroad crossing arm and fled the scene on foot. Charges of driving under the influence, obstructing a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license and driving without an interlock device have been referred to the City of Chehalis prosecutor’s office.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 900 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on May 1 is under investigation.

 

Theft

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:45 p.m. on April 29.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:25 a.m. on April 30 is under investigation.

• Just after 7:35 a.m. on April 30, a caller reported the fuel lines on U-Haul trucks in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue had been cut sometime overnight.

 

Disputes

• A verbal dispute between a man and a woman was reported in the 100 block of Northeast Division Street just before 4:40 p.m. on April 29.

• A verbal dispute between a man and multiple kids was reported at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and Southwest Cascade Avenue just after 10:40 p.m. on May 1.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• Suspicious circumstances reported in the 1400 block of Bishop Road just after 5 p.m. on April 19 are under investigation.

• At approximately 4:50 p.m. on April 30, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported finding a painted mark on the back of her vehicle and stated she thought she might be have been targeted for sex trafficking.

• Just before 6:30 p.m. on April 30, a juvenile in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported that an older man may have been taking photos of her and her friend while they were in their prom dresses. 

• Just after 8:40 p.m. on May 1, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street reported her 9-year-old son had seen a teenage boy rubbing his exposed “private parts” on “a girl’s butt”near the toy section of a store. No arrests were made.

 

Assault

• A subject was arrested in the 10 block of Southeast 16th Street just after 12:25 a.m. on April 30 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault.

 

Trespassing

• A disorderly woman was trespassed from a business in the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard at 1:15 p.m. on May 1.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 156 inmates, including 139 in the general population and 17 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 115 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 15 were reported male and two were reported female.
