Sirens: Driver falls asleep, strikes tree; man arrested after juveniles hospitalized due to meth, fentanyl use; burglary reported

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Burglary

• Just before 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 23, a citizen reported someone broke into their shop in the 200 block of East Summa Street sometime overnight. Nothing was reported missing.

 

DUI

• A 25-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for DUI at the intersection of South Pearl and West Pear streets just before 1:50 a.m. on Aug. 24.

 

Malicious mischief

• At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 24, a citizen reported wires had been stripped from a trash compactor in the 1300 block of Lum Road sometime overnight.

 

Theft

• A theft from a clothing store in the 100 block of West High Street was reported at 1 p.m. on Aug. 24. Officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it on southbound Interstate 5 near milepost 81, but the vehicle fled. “Due to the limited information of the crime, officers did not pursue the vehicle,” the Centralia Police Department stated.

• Officers were called to a shoplift-in-progress at a grocery store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 24. One of the suspects, a 35-year-old Tacoma woman, allegedly gave officers a relative’s name when contacted. She was arrested for shoplifting and identity theft in addition to felony warrants for fraud charges out of Pierce County. A 37-year-old Tacoma woman was also arrested for shoplifting.

• Just after 10:10 a.m. on Aug. 25, a white 2005 Chevy Silverado was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue sometime overnight.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A 41-year-old Spanaway man was arrested in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue at 1:55 p.m. on Aug. 24 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for disorderly conduct.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 35-year-old Centralia man was arrested for trespassing in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 24. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail on a Chehalis Municipal Court warrant.

• A 54-year-old Lacey resident was arrested for trespassing in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:45 p.m. on Aug. 25.

 



Assault

• A 68-year-old Centralia man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 2700 block of Fords Prairie Avenue at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Aug. 24.

• A 44-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 1100 block of Woodland Avenue at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 25 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence.

 

Vehicle accident

• A driver who fell asleep at the wheel, left the roadway and struck a tree at the intersection of Ham Hill Road and Sky Meadows Drive just after 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run involving a driver who left the roadway in the 1200 block of North Gold Street and damaged private property and a parked vehicle just after 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 25 is under investigation.

 

Reckless endangerment

• A 44-year-old Centralia man was arrested for reckless endangerment after officers and medics responded to a possible overdose in the 700 block of South Pearl Street just after 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 25. Two juveniles were hospitalized after admitting to ingesting acid and meth, which they said the suspect gave to them, according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 59 illness-related calls, 18 injury-related calls, 10 fire-related calls, five non-emergency service calls, eight vehicle accidents, two ambulance requests, three Lifeline medical alerts, one overdose and 11 other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 155 inmates, including 142 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 105 were reported male and 37 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 22 inmates, including 14 booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by the City of McCleary and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement.
