Sirens: Drugs found in stolen vehicle; frustrated driver nearly runs over tow truck driver; man arrested after kicking down bathroom door

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Recovered property

• A vehicle reported stolen out of Kitsap County was recovered in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 10:40 a.m. on March 28. Narcotics were found inside the vehicle. The case is under investigation.

 

Theft

• Merchandise was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Lum Road at 12:40 p.m. on March 28. The incident is under investigation.

• Property was reported stolen from inside a vehicle in the 1000 block of L Street just before 12:25 a.m. on March 30. The incident is under investigation.

 

Department assist

• Centralia officers assisted the Tumwater Police Department in arresting a 28-year-old Chehalis man in the 700 block of North Pearl Street “for outstanding probable cause in their criminal case,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The man was transferred to the custody of the Tumwater Police Department.

 

Sexual misconduct

• Just before 3:30 p.m. on March 28, a sexual assault that occurred in 1999 or 2000 was reported in the 1300 block of Kayu Lane. The case is under investigation.

 

Malicious mischief

• Vandalism to a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Scheuber Road that was reported at 4:20 p.m. on March 28 is under investigation.

 

Warrant arrest

• A 29-year-old Centralia resident was arrested in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue just after 12:55 p.m. on March 30 on outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrants for violation of a domestic violence protection order and third-degree malicious mischief.

• A 42-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 100 block of South Pearl Street at approximately 2:25 p.m. on March 30 on outstanding Lewis County Superior Court and Department of Corrections warrants for escape from community custody.

 

Hit-and-run

• A 21-year-old Centralia man was arrested for hit-and-run and obstructing a law enforcement officer in the 200 block of North Pearl Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. on March 29.

 

Assault

• A 27-year-old Olympia man was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue just before 11:25 p.m. on March 29. The man had reportedly fled town after the assault.

 

Drug violation

• A 42-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 100 block of East Cherry Street at 12:30 a.m. on March 31 on a Chehalis Municipal Court warrant. He was also cited for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 1:10 p.m. on March 28.



• Just after 2:30 p.m. on March 29, a parent reported that one of their kids opened their car door and hit another vehicle in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street about an hour prior. The parent reported that the driver of the other vehicle “was aggressive” and took the parent’s information without providing their own.

 

Theft

• A shoplift was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:30 p.m. on March 28.

 

Unlawful imprisonment

• A case of unlawful imprisonment involving a no-contact order violation was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:35 p.m. on March 28.

 

Disorderly conduct

• At approximately 12:45 p.m. on March 29, a case of disorderly conduct that occurred in the 10 block of South Market Boulevard an hour prior was reported. A man driving a white Dodge Ram 2500 who reportedly wanted to get out of the parking lot while a tow truck was loading a vehicle “started honking, backed up aggressively and almost ran over the (tow truck) driver’s legs,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. The man then reportedly called the tow truck company after the incident and threatened staff.

• A man was reportedly screaming, cursing and throwing beer bottles over a fence in the 300 block of Southwest James Street ust after 9:15 p.m. on March 30.

 

Animal negligence/abuse

• A dog was reportedly locked in a vehicle in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 4:20 p.m. on March 29. Officers checked on the dog and confirmed it “looks in good health,” according to the Chehalis Police Department.

 

Recovered property

• A subject was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle in the 2700 block of Airport Road just after 7:25 p.m. on March 29.

 

Malicious mischief

• A man was arrested for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence after he allegedly kicked down a bathroom door to scare his girlfriend during a dispute in the 1000 block of Southeast Sixth Street just before 9:55 p.m. on March 29.

 

Dispute

• A verbal domestic dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 2:45 p.m. on March 30.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 42 illness-related calls, 14 injury-related calls, eight fire-related calls, eight non-emergency service calls, four vehicle accidents, three Lifeline medical alerts, three hazardous conditions reports, two overdoses, one medical helicopter request and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 149 inmates, including 136 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 107 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 25 inmates, including 12 booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections, two booked by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, two booked by the La Push Quileute Nation, one booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by the City of Elma and one booked by the Tulalip Tribe.
