Sirens: Drunk Juveniles; Possible Cat Poisoning; Older Woman Victimized in Theft; Assault Arrests

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly Conduct 

• Officers were asked to respond to a report of two homeless men, one with a hammer, who were apparently damaging a light pole in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 9:10 a.m. on April 14. Officers contacted the males and confirmed they were not damaging the pole.

• Just before 5:35 p.m. on April 14, there was a report of a homeless man screaming outside of a business in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 

• Just before 8:20 p.m. on April 14, there was a report of a disorderly homeless woman trespassing on private property in the 1500 block of Sunset Way. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A man was reportedly “yelling in the hallways” of a building in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:10 p.m. on April 16. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A guest at a hotel in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road was reportedly “causing a disturbance and slamming doors” at 10 p.m. on April 16. When contacted by an officer, the guest reportedly “went to bed without further incident.” 

• A disorderly woman was reportedly “yelling” at a park in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 7:50 a.m. on April 17. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• At 1:15 p.m. on April 14, there was a report of a homeless man with a hammer in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue. The man left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A man was reportedly outside a building “rummaging through garbage cans” in the 300 block of North Gold Street at 11:25 p.m. on April 14. Officers contacted the man, who was identified as “a transient male from Texas.” He was “warned and sent on his way.” 

• At approximately 6:30 a.m. on April 15, there was a report of two homeless men who “had made a mess” in an alley behind a business in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue. Officers contacted one of the two men, “who agreed to clean up the mess and leave.” 

• A homeless man was reportedly blocking a drive-thru in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 12:50 a.m. on April 17. The man reportedly moved to the sidewalk before officers arrived and then “stood on the sidewalk for several hours.” 

 

Criminal Trespassing

• Just before 9:05 p.m. on April 14, there was a report of homeless people trespassing on commercial property in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue. Officers contacted “an adult transient male from Texas” who “willingly left the property when asked to do so.” 

• Officers were asked to respond to a man sleeping in a dumpster behind a business in the 1100 block of South Gold Street just after 10:10 a.m. on April 15. The man left before officers arrived. 

• A homeless man who was reportedly from California was trespassed from an agency in the 100 block of North Gold Street at 9:05 p.m. on April 15 for “not following the rules and causing issues with staff.” 

• A man was cited for trespassing in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue just before 8:40 a.m. on April 16. 

• Two subjects were reportedly “banging on the door and looking in windows” of a residence in the 2400 block of Fords Prairie Avenue just after 3:10 p.m. on April 16. 

• A man was cited for trespassing in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6:20 p.m. on April 16. 

• Employees at a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road asked officers to trespass two subjects they thought “were trying to shoplift” just after 6:55 p.m. on April 16. The subjects left the scene before officers arrived. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. on April 14. 

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Johnson Road and Borst Avenue just before 8:50 a.m. on April 15. 

• A vehicle reportedly struck a pole in the 1100 block of Belmont Avenue just before 9:45 a.m. on April 14. No injuries were reported.

• A non-injury, single-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Third and North Pearl streets just after 3 p.m. on April 15. A vehicle traveling at an “excessive speed” struck a fence. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 400 block of West Pear Street at 4:05 a.m. on April 17. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Reynolds avenues just after 7:45 a.m. on April 17. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of View and Harrison avenues just after 10:40 p.m. on April 15. 

 

Burglary 

• Just after 9:05 a.m. on April 15, a burglary that occurred at a restaurant in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue sometime overnight was reported. The case is under investigation. 

 

Theft 

• Two subjects described as “dark-skinned females” reportedly distracted an elderly woman while she was grocery shopping in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue and stole her wallet out of her purse. The credit cards from the wallet were later used in Thurston County. Officers have surveillance photos of the suspects and are working on identifying them, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• Building materials were reported stolen out of a fenced area in the 500 block of South Diamond Street just before 3:25 p.m. on April 15. The items were later found in a neighbor’s yard about a block away and were returned to the reporting party. “It was not clear who actually stole the items at the time of this report,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• Two cellphones were reported stolen from the 100 block of North Gold Street at 7:20 p.m. on April 15. Using a “find my phone” app, officers located the phones in the 1300 block of North Pearl Street, where officers located a group of people who denied having the phones. An officer called one of the phones and heard it buzzing in a basket one of the suspects, a Centralia woman, left behind. Third-degree theft charges against the Centralia woman have been referred to a local prosecutor’s office. 

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 100 block of West High Street just after 3:30 p.m. on April 16 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for shoplifting and making false statements to an officer. 

 

Assault 

• A Tacoma man was arrested in the 300 block of South Silver Street just after 4:05 p.m. on April 15 and was booked into Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault for allegedly spitting in an officer’s face while he was being arrested on an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant. He was reportedly found hiding inside a cabinet inside a place he was trespassed from. 

• Zackery Johnson, 26, of Centralia was arrested in the 1100 block of Long Road at 11:05 p.m. on April 16 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, domestic violence. His preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court was scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday, April 17. 

 

Drug Violation 

• A Rochester man was cited for a drug violation in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 12:50 p.m. on April 17 after officers found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia in the console of his vehicle. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A vehicle reportedly crashed into a ditch at the intersection of Sturdevant and Chase roads at 7:40 a.m. on April 14. No injuries were reported. 

• Possible injuries were reported after a vehicle crashed into a building in the 700 block of North National Avenue at approximately 4:50 p.m. on April 16. 

 



Hit-and-Run 

• At approximately 11:30 a.m. on April 14, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard a few days prior was reported. 

• A possible hit-and-run was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 1:20 p.m. on April 14. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• A caller reported homeless people were camping near the “Welcome to Chehalis” sign at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue just after 8:20 a.m. on April 14. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A case of disorderly conduct reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 11 a.m. on April 14 is under investigation. 

• A woman was reportedly “verbally and physically abusing her kids” in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before noon on April 14. 

• A disorderly woman was reportedly “walking around (and) knocking things over” at a business in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at 5:05 p.m. on April 14. She was trespassed from the business. 

• A disorderly subject was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 10:45 a.m. on April 15. 

• A homeless man was reportedly “screaming” at people and traffic at a bus stop in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:45 a.m. on April 15. 

• An “irate customer” was reportedly “slamming things into the glass windows” of a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 6:35 p.m. on April 15. The customer was trespassed from the business. 

• Just before 9:15 p.m. on April 15, an unidentified male subject was reportedly walking up and down the road near the intersection of Southwest Riverside Drive and Southwest Newaukum Avenue while “acting erratic,” yelling and carrying something that appeared to be a machete. 

• An “aggressive male” was reportedly “wanting to fight (a) bartender” at a business in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just after 9:30 p.m. on April 15. 

• A disorderly homeless man was trespassed from a business in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place at approximately 4 a.m. on April 16. 

• An “intoxicated disorderly male” was reported in the 500 block of Northeast Adams Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 16. 

 

Theft 

• Just after 12:30 p.m. on April 14, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 2100 block of North National Avenue on April 9. 

• At 6:40 p.m. on April 16, a caller reported a wallet was stolen out of her mother’s purse in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 5 p.m. that day and someone had tried to make a $300 purchase at a sporting goods store with the card. 

 

Juvenile Problems 

• Between 20 and 25 teenagers were reportedly “fist-fighting” in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 5 p.m. on April 14. 

• Just after 10:30 p.m. on April 14, a caller reported two juveniles were “drunker than sh-t” in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street. 

 

Disputes 

• A physical dispute was reported at the intersection of Southwest 13th Street and Southwest Wilson Avenue just before 6:15 p.m. on April 14. 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 2:05 p.m. on April 16. 

• A possible dispute was reported in the 400 block of Northeast Alaskan Way just after 7:15 p.m. on April 16. 

 

Harassment 

• A juvenile reportedly “flipped off” and “threatened to shoot” a person in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 6:50 p.m. on April 14. 

 

Broken Windows  

• Just after 10:20 p.m. on April 14, a caller reported hearing a “crashing glass noise” while inside his house in the 1800 block of Southeast Maple Drive and when he investigated, he found “a bullet hole” in the bedroom window. 

• At 9:25 a.m. on April 15, a caller in the 1200 block of Southwest William Avenue reported someone threw a rock through their window sometime overnight. 

 

Assault 

• Skylar Schrader, 30, was arrested in the 300 block of Northeast Chehalis Avenue at approximately 3:35 a.m. on April 15 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault. Schrader’s preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court was scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday, April 17. 

• A 13-year-old boy was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 200 block of Northeast Washington Avenue at approximately 1:45 p.m. on April 16. 

 

Theft 

• At approximately 8:45 a.m. on April 15, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue sometime overnight was reported. The vehicle’s window was reportedly broken out and tools were missing. 

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:20 p.m. on April 15 is under investigation. 

 

Possible Cat Poisoning 

• Just after 12:30 a.m. on April 16, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest Lewis Street asked to speak to an officer about acrylic paint she found where her cats were and said “she thinks the cats were poisoned.” 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 177 inmates, including 162 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 123 were reported male and 39 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
