Sirens: DUI Arrest After Vehicle Hits House; Man Arrested for Firing Pistol; Assaults; Disorderly Conduct

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault of Child

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road at approximately 10:55 a.m. on Dec. 8 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted his child. 

 

Fraud 

• At 8:10 a.m. on Dec. 8, a victim in the 1100 block of H Street reported being scammed out of money after agreeing to work for a foreign company. 

 

Theft 

• Unknown items were reported stolen from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 12:35 p.m. on Dec. 8. 

• A Centralia woman was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 8. 

• Alcohol was reported stolen from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 9. 

• A theft was reported at an outlet in the 1400 block of Lum Road at approximately 2:25 p.m. on Dec. 10. 

• A manhole cover was reported stolen from the intersection of West Cherry Street and South Washington Avenue just before 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 10. 

• Two jackets were reported stolen from an outlet store in the 1400 block of Lum Road at 4:35 p.m. on Dec. 11. 

 

Vehicle Accidents

• Victor A. Garibaldi, 67, of Centralia, was cited for first-degree negligent driving after he was involved in a three-vehicle collision in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 8 while he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Injuries were reported following the crash. 

• Minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of West Summa Street and South Tower Avenue just after 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 8. 

• Ryder M. Pescatore, 21, of Centralia, was arrested just before 9:35 p.m. on Dec. 8 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after his vehicle struck a house at the intersection of Mellen and Alder streets. 

• Injuries were reported following a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of West Pine and North Silver streets just after 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 10. 

• A minor, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West Sixth Street at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 10. 

• A minor collision was reported at the intersection of West Bridge Street and Harrison Avenue at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Dec. 11. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of North Gold Street and East Maple Street at 5:05 p.m. on Dec. 9. 

 

Physical Control 

• Branden A. Hall, 30, of Centralia, was arrested just after 9:25 p.m. on Dec. 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly being in physical control of a vehicle in the 1500 block of Jensen Avenue while intoxicated. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Gang-related graffiti was reported in the 900 block of Johnson Road just after 3:25 p.m. on Dec. 8. The case is under investigation. 

• Graffiti was found spray painted on signs in the 1300 block of Kulien Avenue at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 9. 

 

Recovered Vehicle 

• An unoccupied, stolen motorhome was recovered in the 1000 block of H Street just after 1:15 p.m. on Dec. 9. A Lacey man found in the area was arrested for a felony Department of Corrections warrant. 

 

Reckless Endangerment 

• Craig A. Haselton was arrested at 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail after allegedly firing a pistol “at what he thought was people jumping over his back fence” in the 300 block of Noel Avenue. Officers did not find evidence that people were in Haselton’s backyard, according to the Centralia Police Department. Haselton was released from the Lewis County Jail on Dec. 11, according to jail records. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Fraud 



• Just after 10:14 a.m. on Dec. 9, a case of fraudulent bank activity that occurred on Oct. 21 in the 1800 block of South Market Boulevard was reported. 

Theft 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 9. 

• An attempted theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 is under investigation. 

• An attempted theft was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 10. 

• Two juveniles were cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 10. 

 

DUI 

• John R.S. Gladue III, 42, of Chehalis, was arrested at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just before 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 9 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence, second-degree driving with a suspended or revoked license, driving without an ignition interlock device and driving with no valid proof of insurance. 

 

Trespassed From Property 

• A suspect who was reportedly blocking two pumps at a gas station in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue, claiming the store “owes her money” and “yelling racial slurs at (the) manager” was trespassed from the property at approximately 9:05 a.m. on Dec. 10. 

 

Vehicle Accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Median Street at approximately 12:25 p.m. on Dec. 10. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A vehicle reportedly hit the pedestrian crossing button at the intersection of Southwest Parkland Drive and Southwest Interstate Avenue at 2:10 a.m. on Dec. 11 and fled the scene. 

• Just after 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 11, a hit-and-run that occurred at the intersection of Northeast Cascade Avenue and North Market Boulevard on Friday was reported. 

• A vehicle reportedly hit an 8-year-old child riding a gas-powered bike in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court just before 3:25 p.m. on Dec. 11 and fled the scene. The reporting party declined medical aid for the child. 

Assault 

• A case of fourth-degree assault was reported at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 1:35 p.m. on Dec. 10. No arrests were made, but the suspect was still in the facility. 

 

Disputes 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:50 p.m. on Dec. 10. 

• A physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10. No arrests were made. 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:05 p.m. on Dec. 11. 

 

Runaway Juvenile 

• At 2:55 p.m. on Dec. 12, a caller reported they were babysitting a 12-year-old who reportedly “got upset” at the babysitter and “rode off on his bike” about 45 minutes prior without telling the babysitter where he was going. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A subject was cited for disorderly conduct just after 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 12 after she allegedly walked in the middle of the road over the Northeast Chamber of Commerce Way overpass attempting to stop cars for a ride. When asked if she needed assistance getting somewhere, the subject reportedly said she “would figure it out.” 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 140 inmates, including 125 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 105 were reported male and 20 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and two were reported female.
