Sirens: DUI Arrests; Vehicular Assault; Dog in Hot Car; Road Rage; Possession of Methamphetamine; Assault

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A Centralia man was cited for shoplifting a T-shirt in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue at approximately 4 p.m. on Aug. 12.

• A gym bag was reported stolen from a facility in the 900 block of Johnson Road at 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 12.

• A Bucoda man was arrested in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 13 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged shoplifting and resisting arrest. He was also booked on an outstanding warrant.

• Milwaukee cordless tools were reported stolen from the back of a pickup truck in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 14.

• Multiple items were reported stolen from a travel trailer in the 1400 block of Lois Lane just after 10 a.m. on Aug. 14. Some of the stolen items were trafficked on Offer Up. The case is under investigation.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, minor collision was reported in the 1200 block of Lum Road just after 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 12.

• Injuries were reported after a minor collision that occurred in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue shortly before 1:35 p.m. on Aug. 13.

• A non-injury, minor vehicle accident was reported in the 100 block of South Railroad Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 13.

 

Assault

• A Centralia man was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on Aug. 13.

 

DUI

• Francisco Benitez-Lumus, 34, of Centralia, was arrested at the intersection of North Pearl Street and Reynolds Avenue just before 3 a.m. on Aug. 14 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run to a light pole in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue reported just after 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 14 is under investigation.

• A hit-and-run where a dark blue Ford Explorer struck one vehicle and pushed it into another before fleeing the scene was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues just before 2:35 p.m. on Aug. 14.

 

Possession of Methamphetamine

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 910 block of Harrison Avenue at 2:25 a.m. on Aug. 15 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and on an outstanding municipal warrant.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Trespassing

• A subject was trespassed from a property in the 10 block of Southeast Third Street just before 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 12.

• A caller requested multiple subjects who reportedly broke their fence be trespassed from their property in the 200 block of Southwest First Street just after 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 13.

• A subject was arrested in the 10 block of Southwest Third Street at 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 13 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for trespassing.

 

Road Rage

• A road rage incident, where a vehicle aggressively chased another, was reported at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Coal Creek Road at noon on Aug. 12.

 



Identity Theft

• A case of identity theft was reported in the 600 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 12.

Vehicle Prowl

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 13 is under investigation.

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 14 is under investigation.

 

Other Theft

• Just before 1:50 p.m. on Aug. 12, a second-degree theft that occurred in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:05 a.m. that morning was reported.

• A subject who reportedly attempted to shoplift lumber and a water heater from a business in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was arrested just after 2:20 p.m. on Aug. 12 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• A third-degree theft that was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue at 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 14 is under investigation.

 

Malicious Mischief

• Just after 5:05 p.m. on Aug. 12, a caller in the 1500 block of North National Avenue reported someone “planted” a small nail in her vehicle’s tire and “smeared blood on her bumper sticker.”

 

Burglary

• At approximately 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 12, a caller reported the gate to their property in the 1100 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue was broken and it “look(ed) like someone drove through the gate going outbound,” according to the call log. A service truck was later discovered missing from the property.

 

Juvenile Problem

• Just after 7:20 p.m. on Aug. 13, a caller at the intersection of Southwest Pacific Avenue and Southwest 11th Street reported a group of juveniles were “carrying a big pipe and steel rod, hitting fences, stop signs and riling up the neighborhood dogs.” No arrests were made.

 

Dog in Car

• A dog was reportedly left in a vehicle in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:50 p.m. on Aug. 14.

 

Vehicular Assault

• A white mini van allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of Southwest Interstate Avenue and Southwest Parkland Drive at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Aug. 14 and struck a motorcycle with two people on it before fleeing the scene. Both of the motorcycle riders suffered minor injuries. The driver of the van, Susan R. Kay, 47, of Napavine, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged vehicular assault.

 

DUI

• Juan L. Landeros Barahona, 35, of Seattle, was arrested at the intersection of Southwest Ninth Street and Southwest McFadden Avenue just after 2:05 a.m. on Aug. 15 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 184 inmates, including 166 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 136 were reported male and 30 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 15 were reported male and three were reported female.
