Sirens: False report that a penis was cut off was the result of hallucination from drugs, police discover

Malicious mischief

• Vandalism to car tires was reported in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road just before 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 15.

• A local transit company reported possible malicious mischief to one of its vehicles at the intersection of South Yew and Mellen streets at 1:40 p.m. on Feb. 16.

 

Criminal trespass

• Three subjects were arrested on outstanding warrants after they were warned for trespassing at a train station in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue at 8:50 a.m. on Feb. 15.

• A 66-year-old Newman Lake man was cited for trespassing “after numerous warnings” in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 15.

• A Newman Lake man was arrested in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just before 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for first-degree criminal trespass.

 

Vehicle accidents

  A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Fair Street and Grand Avenue just after 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 15.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:40 p.m. on Feb. 16.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 1300 block of Lum Road just before 7:55 p.m. on Feb. 16.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Walnut and South Pearl streets just before 3:40 a.m. on Feb. 17.  The driver veered off the roadway while inputting a location into the vehicle’s GPS and collided into a legally parked vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1300 block of South Gold Street just after 6:20 p.m. on Feb. 17.

• A two-vehicle collision with injuries was reported at the intersection of Kresky Avenue and East Summa Street just before 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 17. The Centralia Police Department did not disclose information on who was injured or the extent of their injuries.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 2:25 p.m. on Feb. 17 is under investigation.

 

Witness tampering

• A 44-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 2800 block of Russell Road just after 6:55 p.m. on Feb. 15 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for witness tampering. During a domestic violence investigation, the woman allegedly “contacted a ‘witness’ and told them to say they were on the phone and heard her get hit,” according to the Centralia Police Department. “The ‘witness’ eventually confessed to officers and advised that (the suspect) sent them a picture of an injury and told them to tell police they were on the phone at the time of the incident,” the department stated in a news release.

 

Harassment

• Telephone harassment involving threats was reported in the 1400 block of Delaware Avenue at approximately 11:35 a.m. on Feb. 16. The case is under investigation.

 

Department assists

• At approximately 12:55 p.m. on Feb. 16, Centralia police assisted the Washington State Patrol with locating and apprehending a suspect involved in a prior eluding case in the 1200 block of Johnson Road.

• An officer responded to the 100 block of South Silver Street at 4:10 p.m. on Feb. 16 to assist aid units with response to a possible overdose.



• Just after 5:55 p.m. on Feb. 17, officers aided Child Protective Services and aid units in responding “to a report that someone had their penis cut off” in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street. Upon arrival, “it was found that the subject was hallucinating after using fentanyl and his penis was still intact,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Scam

• A telephone scam involving a suspect with a Nigerian telephone number was reported in the 200 block of East Carson Street just after 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 16. The scammer threatened to have the victim’s family members arrested if the victim didn’t pay the scammer money.

 

Eluding

• Just after 8:35 p.m. on Feb. 16, Centralia officers located a vehicle at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West Sixth Street that failed to stop for a Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy earlier that day. The vehicle fled westbound on West First Street. Officers did not pursue in compliance with state pursuit laws.

• Officers attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Johnson Road at 2:40 a.m. on Feb. 18. The driver fled from the vehicle on foot. Officers initiated a K9 track but were unable to locate the suspect. The stolen vehicle was recovered. The case is under investigation.

 

Camping

• Two subjects were cited for camping within city limits at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5 just after 8:55 p.m. on Feb. 16. The subjects were issued a warning earlier this month.

 

Theft

• At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Feb. 16, a resident in the 1300 block of Kulien Avenue reported a theft that just occurred from their residence. The male suspect was captured on video surveillance riding up to the victim’s porch and stealing a package containing dog food. The case is under investigation. 

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A homeless man was reportedly knocking on doors in the 100 block of South Pleasant Avenue just before 12:10 a.m. on Feb. 17. Officers were unable to locate the man.

• Officers responded to a restaurant in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:35 a.m. on Feb. 17 after the restaurant reported a subject had been in the business’s bathroom for several hours. The subject left before officers arrived.

• A suspicious vehicle “with subjects possibly using illegal drugs” was reported in an alley in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue just after 12:10 p.m. on Feb. 17. Officers were unable to determine a crime had been committed.

• A woman reportedly entered and left a stranger’s apartment in the 1400 block of Johnson Road several times just before 2:35 p.m. on Feb. 17. The woman told responding officers “she was confused with her friend’s apartment number, causing her to enter the wrong apartment.”

 

DUI

• A 24-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 12:35 a.m. on Feb. 17 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI.

• A 25-year-old Yelm man was arrested in the 1300 block of Johnson Road just before 8:15 p.m. on Feb. 17 and was booked into jail for DUI.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A 56-year-old Olympian man was arrested in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue for disorderly conduct for allegedly walking into traffic and preventing cars from moving.

• A disorderly subject was reported at a business in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Feb. 17. The subject left before officers arrived.
