Sirens: Flock Camera Helps Lead to Shoplifter; Safe Accessed as Employees Distracted; Motorcyclist Flees Police; DUI Arrest

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• Just before 9:55 a.m. on June 30, an electric bicycle was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue sometime overnight. 

• A case of shoplifting was reported at a convenience store in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue at 9 a.m. on June 25. The suspect fled in a black Kia. Officers used the Flock Safety camera system to locate the vehicle later in the day and cited the suspect, a 20-year-old Centralia woman, for third-degree theft. 

• A theft was reported at a grocery store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:35 p.m. on June 25. The suspect fled in a red Toyota. 

• Two unidentified suspects reportedly shoplifted from a store in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue at 5:25 p.m. on July 1. The suspects left in a black Hyundai. 

• Three unidentified suspects reportedly shoplifted from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 6:25 p.m. on July 1. The suspects left in a gray Acura. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• Several people were trespassed from railroad property in the 1600 block of Reynolds Avenue at approximately 9:55 a.m. on June 30. 

• An unhoused female from Oregon was trespassed from an overnight shelter in the 100 block of North Gold Street just before 4:30 a.m. on June 26. 

 

Burglary 

• At approximately 3:20 p.m. on June 30, there was a report that “a group of females” entered a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road and distracted the employees while one female entered the office and broke into the safe. “Nothing was stolen, but the safe will need to be replaced,” according to the Centralia Police Department. Business employees did not know the crime had taken place until they reviewed surveillance footage. 

• A group of people reportedly stole computer items from a hotel in the 1200 block of Mellen Street at 4:45 p.m. on June 30. A red Nissan Titan was seen dropping a male and a female off then returning later. The male and female then loaded stolen items into the truck and left the area. The case is under investigation. 

• A man reportedly stole from a store he was trespassed from in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 10:25 p.m. on June 30. The case is under investigation. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• Minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of North Pearl Street and East Alaska Way at 5:10 p.m. on June 30. One vehicle reportedly attempted to make a left turn and struck another vehicle. All injured parties were treated at the scene. 



• A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries after they took a wide turn and struck a parked vehicle at the intersection of North Pearl and West Sixth Streets at 11:55 a.m. on June 25. 

 

Eluding 

• A black, red and silver Suzuki motorcycle reportedly fled from law enforcement when an officer tried to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of Kresky Avenue and East Summa Street just after 9:05 p.m. on June 30. The motorcycle drove the wrong way on Kresky Avenue and the officer did not pursue due to safety concerns and state law parameters. 

 

Juvenile Problem 

• Juveniles were reportedly throwing lit firecrackers at passing cars in the 1200 block of Borthwick Street just before 10:35 a.m. on July 1. Officers were unable to locate the juveniles. 

 

Disputes 

• Two unhoused males were involved in a dispute outside of a train station in the 200 block of Railroad Avenue just before 10:40 p.m. on July 1. 

• Officers responded to a disturbance at the intersection of East Locust Street and South Pleasant Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. on July 2. Officers determined no crime had occurred. 

 

DUI 

• Luis E. Saucedo-Monroy, 27, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1300 block of Mellen Street just before 2:30 a.m. on July 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 168 inmates, including 153 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 116 were reported male and 37 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and two were reported female.
