Sirens: Home posted to Craigslist without permission; scammer claims to be with sheriff's office; assault with Mountain Dew

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Burglary

• A citizen reported someone used bolt cutters to cut a chain and break into a lot in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 8 a.m. on June 3.

• Just after 4:30 p.m. on June 3, a citizen reported a door to Yard Birds in the 2100 block of North National Avenue had been ripped off.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A citizen reported seeing a maroon patrol vehicle that “didn’t look like a police vehicle” at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Meridian Street at 9:10 a.m. on June 3. Officers confirmed the vehicle was associated with the Washington State Patrol.

• A citizen reported seeing a male subject who “looks shady” running over a bridge in the 200 block of Southwest Riverside Drive just after 3:45 p.m. on June 4.

• A group of six or seven “young men” were reportedly standing in the roadway near Orin Smith Elementary School in the 1200 block of Bishop Road at 11:50 p.m. on June 4. The reporting party advised it was “too late for them to all be out there.”

• A man with no shoes who was “probably high” was reportedly loitering in a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1:35 a.m. on June 5. He left the business on his own accord.

 

Theft

• A second-degree theft reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after noon on June 3 is under investigation.

• A woman was cited for shoplifting from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:35 p.m. on June 3.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7:40 p.m. on June 3 is under investigation.

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 10:55 p.m. on June 3.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A male subject was reportedly “loitering and screaming” outside a business in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at 2 p.m. on June 3.

 

Green Hill School

• Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street reported several custodial assault cases to the Chehalis Police Department just after 2:10 p.m. on June 3.

• Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street reported one escape at approximately 2:45 p.m. on June 3.

• Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street reported one marijuana violation at approximately 2:45 p.m. on June 3.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury vehicle accident was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 4:25 p.m. on June 3.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at approximately 7:50 a.m. on June 4.



 

Scams

• Just after 12:10 p.m. on June 4, a citizen reported someone keeps posting her house in the 10 block of Southwest Ninth Street for sale on Craigslist without her permission. She reported this has been an ongoing issue for the last year.

• Just before 2:15 p.m. on June 4, a citizen in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street reported receiving a call from someone falsely claiming to be a Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• Deli food was reported stolen from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:20 p.m. on June 3.

• A 45-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 500 block of South Rock Street at 7:50 p.m. on June 3 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft after he allegedly stole his elderly father’s credit card and used it to buy kratom at a local convenience store.

 

Reckless driving

• A 49-year-old Centralia man was cited for reckless driving in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 2:30 p.m. on June 3.

 

Assault

• A 65-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 900 block of L Street just after 5:55 p.m. on June 4 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence after he allegedly pushed his roommate and poured Mountain Dew on the roommate’s head during an altercation.

 

Criminal trespass

• Two homeless Centralia men were trespassed from a business property in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just after 6:20 p.m. on June 4 after the business’ owner called to report a group of people was on the property without permission.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 35 illness-related calls, 10 injury-related calls, nine fire-related calls, four non-emergency service calls, two vehicle accidents, three overdoses and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 128 inmates, including 115 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 89 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 10 inmates, including five booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections and two booked by the Lummi Nation.
