Sirens: Homeless people trespassed from Seminary Hill; bank scammed out of $4,500; child, 2, found unattended

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A 15-year-old was referred on third-degree theft charges for allegedly stealing alcohol from a store in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just before 11:05 a.m. on May 20.

• A 13-year-old was referred on third-degree theft charges for allegedly shoplifting from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 8:20 a.m. on May 21.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A homeless Spokane man was trespassed from a restaurant in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue at noon on May 20 for disorderly conduct. He was reportedly acting disorderly at a business in the 100 block of East Magnolia Street at about 3:10 p.m. that same day.

• A disorderly woman was reportedly “screaming profanities into the air” outside a business in  the 100 block of East Magnolia Street at approximately 3:10 p.m. on May 20. She reportedly “screamed profanities” at officers, who asked her to be quiet.

 

Criminal trespass

• Two subjects accused of previously stealing from a business in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue were trespassed from the business just after 3:55 p.m. on May 21.

• Five homeless people were trespassed from the Seminary Hill Nature area after they were found in a campsite within the boundaries of the nature area at approximately 8:10 p.m. on May 21. Officers had responded to the area for a reported illegal burn prior to locating the camps. A 31-year-old man was arrested and released with a summons on two Centralia Municipal court warrants.

• A homeless person found sleeping in front of a business’s door in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard just after 7:25 a.m. on May 22 was trespassed from the business.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A minor, non-injury two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont Avenues at 4:25 p.m. on May 20.

• A car crashed into a street sign at the intersection of Alder and Cherry streets just after 8:20 a.m. on May 21. No injuries were reported.

• A car crashed into a street sign at the intersection of North Pearl and West Third streets at 3 p.m. on May 21. No injuries were reported.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 11:10 a.m. on May 21.

 

Scam

• A citizen in the 1000 block of J Street reported a potential scam just after 7:30 p.m. on May 21. Officers determined the reporting party had not been a victim and advised the caller to file a complaint with the Washington state Attorney General’s Office.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Harassment

• A citizen in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard reported receiving harassing emails from a former client  just before 8:15 a.m. on May 20. Officers determined no crime had occurred but had a conversation with the former client about the emails.

• At approximately 11:25 a.m. on May 21, a citizen reported his sister has been showing up at his work in the 10 block of Northeast Meidan Way and talking about him to his coworkers.

 

Burglary

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 500 block of West Main Street just after 8:25 a.m. on May 20 is under investigation.

• Forced entry to a building in the 2100 block of North National Avenue was reported just after 8:45 a.m. on May 20. Officers found a lock was missing from a sliding door. The reporting party stated it was “possible someone was locked inside overnight, as they had heard noises (the) previous day but couldn’t locate anyone at the time.”

 

Found person

• An unaccompanied 2-year-old girl was located at the intersection of Southwest Fourth Street and Southwest McFadden Avenue just after 10:50 a.m. on May 20.

 

Assault 

• A possible physical dispute between two women was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest West Street at approximately 1:35 p.m. on May 20. A witness advised the altercation was between a veterinarian and a client.



• A witness reported seeing a man hit a woman in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 5:35 p.m. on May 21.

• A citizen reported a woman punched them in the face multiple times and made them get out of a car in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 6:40 a.m. on May 22.

 

Overdose

• A possible overdose was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street at approximately 4 p.m. on May 20. The reporting party advised they did not have immediate access to Narcan.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A citizen reported a suspicious woman was messing with the steering column of a vehicle in the 600 block of West Main Street just before 5:05 p.m. on May 20. The woman reportedly asked the citizen to pretend to know her if law enforcement personnel showed up.

• A subject reportedly kicked in a door in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at 3 a.m. on May 21.

 

Theft

• A bicycle was reported stolen from a bike rack in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just before 7:20 p.m. on May 20.

 

Malicious mischief

• A client at a mental health facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reportedly destroyed a telephone and spit on the facility’s door just after 8:40 p.m. on May 20.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Southwest Parkland Drive and Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 7:40 a.m. on May 21.

• A car driven by a 90-year-old woman struck a deer in the 2500 block of North National Avenue just before 11:40 a.m. on May 21. No injuries to humans were reported. Information on the deer’s condition was not available Wednesday morning.

• A non-injury, two--vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Median Street at 3:05 p.m. on May 21.

• A non-injury two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just after 3:45 p.m. on May 21.

Fraud

• A case of possible identity theft was reported in the 700 block of West Main Street at 1:50 p.m. on May 21. The reporting party advised someone used a fake ID to try and withdraw money from the bank the reporting party works at. The reporting party advised the suspect didn’t get any money from the Chehalis branch, but was able to get $4,500 from a Winlock branch.

 

Recovered vehicle

• A stolen vehicle was recovered at the intersection of Northwest Lafayette Street and Northwest State Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. on May 21.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A report of disorderly conduct in the 700 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue just after 9 p.m. on May 21 is under investigation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 36 illness-related calls, six injury-related calls, five fire-related calls, seven non-emergency service calls, one vehicle accident, three overdoses, four Lifeline medical alerts and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 132 inmates, including 119 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 97 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of eight inmates, including three booked by the Centralia Police Department, four booked by the state Department of Corrections and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
