Sirens: Inmate found with suboxone in cell; Centralia man arrested for DUI warrant; K9 Havik detects narcotics

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Preliminary appearances

• Christopher R. Chapman, 57, Centralia, made a preliminary appearance June 29 for one count of possession of a controlled substance while in a county or local correctional facility after jail staff allegedly found suboxone in his cell. According to prosecutors, Chapman allegedly failed to comply with his suboxone program by “cheeking” or not swallowing his medication and then stashing it. An arraignment was scheduled for July 2.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Adrian R. Rojas, 23, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail following a traffic stop in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at about 8:54 p.m. June 29. Police allegedly found Rojas driving on a suspended license while violating a domestic violence protection order. The protected individual was reportedly his passenger. Police also arrested Rojas on a $50,000 warrant out of Lewis County District Court concerning charges of DUI and reckless endangerment.

Accidents

• Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the 800 block of West Main Street at about 1:39 p.m. June 29.

Criminal trespass

• A subject was trespassed from a local store in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 1:37 p.m. June 29 after allegedly stealing items.

Department assist

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office requested K9 Havik’s assistance for a vehicle sniff near milepost 68 on Interstate 5 in Napavine at about 11:31 p.m. June 29. After K9 Havik detected the odor of narcotics, law enforcement executed a search warrant on the vehicle and reportedly found methamphetamine and multiple smoking pipes. Deputies booked the suspect into jail.



Malicious mischief

• A citizen reported that their car tires had been slashed in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue at about 2:26 a.m. June 30. The citizen said they chased the suspect away on foot. The case is under investigation.

Possession of controlled substances

• Tara A. Brennan, Centralia, was cited for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia during a traffic stop in the 900 block of South Tower Avenue at about 5:10 p.m. June 29.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of July 1, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 137 inmates, including 124 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 107 were reported male and 17 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of July 1, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 12 inmates. Of those, two were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis and three were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were three from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and the Skokomish Tribe.
