Sirens: Interfering with a health care facility arrest; fentanyl found in stolen vehicle; pair arrested outside 'known drug house'

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Pearl and West First streets just before 12:25 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Criminal trespass

• Two subjects were trespassed from a business in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue at 2:55 p.m. on Dec. 19 after a member of staff discovered that one of the subjects was attempting to steal merchandise. The items were recovered before the arrival of law enforcement.

Camping violations

• Officers contacted a transient male in the 1300 block of Mellen Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 and warned him of the city’s no-camping ordinance.

• Laurie A. Rager, 50, of Centralia, and David L. Hamilton, 55, of Centralia, were cited for their second offense of camping on city property/parks.

Arrests

• Maria S. Tipia Martinez, 43, of Olympia, was cited for driving on a suspended license at the intersection of Haviland Street and Belmont Avenue just before 11:50 a.m. on Dec. 20.  During the stop, officers also arrested Carlos D. Tapia, 25, of Olympia, for violation of a domestic violence no-contact order.

Malicious mischief

• Elise C. Wray, 39, of Centralia, was arrested in the 200 block of Latona Street just before 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence, after she allegedly damaged a door and shelf.

Burglary

• A burglary reported in the 900 block of B Street just before 12:10 p.m. on Dec. 20 is under investigation.

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 900 block of North Tower Avenue just before 12:25 p.m. on Dec. 20.



Interfering with a health care facility

• Joseph P Berg, 72, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for interfering with a health care facility in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at approximately 4:35 p.m. on Dec. 20.  This charge stems from Berg allegedly yelling racial slurs at staff and acting out, diverting attention of hospital staff away from other patients.

Drug violations

• John M. Williford, 30, of Centralia, and Jodi L. Hames, 52, of Centralia, were cited for loitering for drug-related activity in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street just after 2:10 p.m. on Dec. 19 after they were contacted in a vehicle. The subjects had drug paraphernalia littered within and outside of the vehicle, and were parked near a known drug house.

• After receiving an alert from Flock in regards to a stolen license plate, a Centralia Police Officer located the vehicle it was affixed to in a parking lot in the 100 block of West High Street just after 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 20.  The sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Dustin R. McLaughlin, 36, from Castle Rock. The investigation revealed probable cause to arrest McLaughlin for third-degree possession of stolen property. Probable cause was established to apply for and obtain a search warrant in regards to drug paraphernalia seen in plain view.  A search of the vehicle yielded more than user amounts of fentanyl and the items used to distribute the controlled substance.

DUI

• Luis E Saucedo-Monroy, 29, Chehalis, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for suspicion of DUI after being contacted via traffic stop in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 1 a.m. on Dec. 21.  A records check revealed that Saucedo-Monroy was arrested for a similar charge in 2023.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Chehalis Police Department has not yet released its most recent call reports. Look for updated information in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle and at chronline.com when the reports are made available.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Dec. 22, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 153 inmates, including 140 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 113 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Dec. 22, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 29 inmates. Of those, 10 were from Centralia, nine were from the Department of Corrections, two were from Chehalis and two were from Elma. Additionally, there was one inmate each from the Quileute Nation, Suquamish Tribe, Shoalwater Bay Tribe, Tulalip Tribe and Lummi Nation.
