Sirens: 'Juvenile Fight Club' Reported; Motorists Makes Gun Threat; Defendant Flees Court in Handcuffs; Aggressive Panhandling

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Harassment 

• A case of possible telephone harassment was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Fourth Street just before 7:50 a.m. on April 12. 

• Just after 3:45 p.m. on April 12, a caller reported a patient at a facility in the 1200 block of Bishop Road “made threats to bomb (the) place.” 

• A 14-year-old was reportedly threatened by a 15-year-old in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at 3:25 p.m. on April 13. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just before 11:30 a.m. on April 12. 

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Coal Creek Road at 4:50 p.m. on April 13. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• At 11:40 a.m. on April 12, a caller reported an unidentified male driver stopped his car in the middle of the road at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest Pacific Avenue, got out of his car, pulled out a .22 pistol and threatened to shoot the reporting party. The male then reportedly got back into his car and drove towards the freeway. No injuries were reported. 

• Just after 11:40 a.m. on April 12, a caller reported a child between 5 and 6 years old had possibly been left alone in a vehicle and was crying. 

• An “erratic driver” was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 11:45 a.m. on April 12. 

• A subject in handcuffs reportedly fled from Lewis County Superior Court in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 9:30 a.m. on April 13. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A “mentally disturbed person” was reportedly “screaming, yelling and throwing rocks” in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 2:50 p.m. on April 12.  

 

Criminal Trespass 

• A woman who was reportedly “using drugs in the bathroom” of a business in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard was trespassed from the property at 5:05 p.m. on April 12. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 10:15 p.m. on April 13. 

 

Theft

• Two male subjects were reportedly “shining flashlights at cars” and getting in and out of multiple vehicles in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 8:50 p.m. on April 12. 

  A vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of Habein Road at approximately 7:30 a.m. on April 14. The case is under investigation. 

 

Vehicle Accident 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 11 a.m. on April 13. 

 

Scam 

• A scam where a family in a white van was trying to sell jewelry in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was reported just before 2:10 p.m. on April 13. 

 

Juvenile Problem 

• A “juvenile fight club” was reported on a playground in the 200 block of 13th Street just after 4:20 p.m. on April 13.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 



Theft 

• Just before 10:50 a.m. on April 12, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 200 block of West Hanson Street sometime overnight was reported. 

• Identification cards and money were reported stolen from the 400 block of West Main Street just after 10:50 a.m. on April 13. The case is under investigation. 

• Change was reported stolen from a vehicle at the intersection of South Railroad Avenue and East Locust Street just after 2:35 p.m. on April 13.

• A white 2012 Mazda with the Washington license plate CHM5037 was reported stolen from the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 3:55 a.m. on April 14. 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A woman was reportedly “yelling and screaming” in the 200 block of Railroad Avenue at 11:15 a.m. on April 12. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A homeless man was reportedly “stepping in front of cars (and) aggressively panhandling” in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just before 8:20 a.m. on April 13. Just after 9:15 a.m. that same day, there was a report of that same man “snaking into a motel to steal food” in the 1200 block of Alder Street. The man was identified as a Bellingham resident, cited for disorderly conduct and trespassed from the motel. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• Just before 10 a.m. on April 13, officers responded to a report that a homeless man “appeared to be scoping out a church that was closed” in the 1600 block of Military Road. When officers contacted the man, who said he was from White Salmon, told officers “he was not looking to break in.” 

 

Assault 

• Fourth-degree charges against a 14-year-old girl accused of assaulting another 14-year-old girl at Centralia Middle School in the 900 block of Johnson Road were referred to Lewis County Juvenile Court just before 12:15 p.m. on April 12.

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A vehicle window was reported broken in the 1600 block of Johnson Road just before 5:30 p.m. on April 12. Nothing from the vehicle was reported missing. 

• A vehicle window was reported broken in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at 7:25 p.m. on April 12. The case is under investigation. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• Just after 6:25 p.m. on April 12, officers responded to a report of a homeless man from Longview trespassing on private property in the 200 block of East Cherry Street. When the property owner asked the man to leave, the man reportedly threatened to assault the property owner. Officers located the man shortly after and trespassed him from the property per the owner’s request. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, three-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Belmont and Harrison avenues at 6:45 p.m. on April 12. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Pearl and West Cherry streets just after 10:05 a.m. on April 13. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run reported at the intersection of East Summa and South Gold streets just before 9:30 p.m. on April 13 is under investigation. 

 

Attempted Burglary 

• Just before 5:55 a.m. on April 14, officers responded to a report of an unknown male trying to force his way into multiple residences on Downing Road.  Officers located the male in the 400 block of Downing Road and arrested him for attempted burglary.  The man was identified as a 35-year-old experiencing homelessness in Centralia. He was additionally booked into the Lewis County Jail for multiple felony warrants from the Department of Corrections and Thurston County. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL  STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 173 inmates, including 160 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 125 were reported male and 35 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
