Sirens: Juveniles unlawfully operating ATVs; man disrupts traffic, gets arrested; porch pirate strikes

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Assault

• Brenton N. Klasen, 39, of Chehalis, was arrested in the 3500 block of Steelhammer Drive at approximately 6:30 a.m. on June 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted staff while being cared for at a medical facility.

• Jayna R. Malcher, 41, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1600 block of Winterwood Drive at approximately 1:55 p.m. on June 11 after allegedly being involved in a physical altercation with a family/household member.

Theft

• A package was reported stolen from a porch in the 600 block of Bengal Court just after 8:15 a.m. on June 10. The case is under investigation.

• A female allegedly attempted to steal items from a local business in the 600 block of West Pear Street just after 10:35 a.m. on June 10 and left the items after being confronted by employees. This case is under investigation.

Arrests

• Algwen Perkins, 52, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1300 block of Johnson Road just before 10 a.m. on June 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly violating the conditions of a restraining order.

• Paul Spoon, 47, of Chehalis, was arrested in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just after 10:55 p.m. on June 10 and was booked into Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Department of Corrections arrest warrant for escape.

• Frederic Lee, 50, of Rochester, was arrested in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:15 a.m. on June 11 and was booked into Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court arrest warrant for third-degree theft.

• Evan L. Bigelow, 21, of Chehalis, was arrested in the 100 block of West Maple Street just after 5:50 p.m. on June 11 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail after Centralia police confirmed his outstanding warrant from an outside agency.

• James C. Tryon, 51, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1400 block of Johnson Road just after 7:50 p.m. on June 11 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for allegedly violating restrictions of a protection order. An officer saw Tryon in the area of an address he was restricted from and Tryon allegedly ran and hid from officers, but was eventually taken into custody. Tryon was additionally booked for obstructing a law enforcement officer. 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of West Pear Street just after 10:35 a.m. on June 10.

• Centralia officers assisted the Washington State Patrol with a hit-and-run reported at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues at 5:45 a.m. on June 11.

• Officers responded to a vehicle vs. bicycle collision in the 100 block of Cedarwood Drive just after 3:05 p.m. on June 11. The bicyclist did not suffer any injuries.

Disorderly conduct

• Ronan L. Whiteplume, 42, of Chehalis, was arrested at approximately 3 p.m. on June 10 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Officers contacted Whiteplume after he was observed walking in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5, Exit 82, causing multiple vehicles to stop. Whiteplume allegedly did not follow lawful orders to stop and subsequently resisted while being taken into custody.

Traffic problems



• Officers completed a traffic stop of juveniles unlawfully operating ATVs on the roadway at the intersection of Windsor Avenue and Vienna Street at 5:40 p.m. on June 10. The juveniles were warned and turned over to their guardians.

• Hector Barraza, 42, of Centralia, was cited and released when he was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license at the intersection of Belmont and Borst avenues just after 7:20 p.m. on June 11.

Drug violation

• Nicholas B. Decker, 37, of Chehalis was arrested in the 100 block of East Pine Street just after 4:25 a.m. on June 11 after he was found to be in possession of suspected narcotics. He was released.

Sexual misconduct

• Officers are investigating a possible sex offense reported in the 1600 block of Johnson Road at approximately 4:40 p.m. on June 11. No other information is available at this time.

Criminal trespass

• Jane Richards, 61, of Centralia was arrested in the 400 block of South Pearl Street at approximately 11:20 p.m. on June 11 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for first-degree criminal trespass and obstructing a law enforcement officer. Richards was found hiding in a bathroom of a residence that was being remodeled and allegedly did not come out when announcements were made.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Obstruction

• Samuel Abera was cited for obstructing a public servant in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just before 1:10 p.m. on June 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Theft

• Andrew Fortune was arrested in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. on June 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft.

DUI

• Daniel I. Nuwash was issued a criminal citation for DUI in the 100 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1 a.m. on June 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of June 12, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 140 inmates, including 127 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 109 were reported male and 18 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of June 12, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 19 inmates. Of those, seven were from Centralia and seven were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from Chehalis, Chehalis Tribal Court, the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and the Skokomish Tribe.
