CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at approximately 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 23.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1700 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 23.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 3:05 p.m. on Sept. 23 is under investigation.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1100 block of Sylvenus Street just before 4:35 p.m. on Sept. 23 is under investigation.

• Nike Air Force shoes were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 24.

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 600 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue just before 8:05 a.m. on Sept. 27 is under investigation.

• A case of counterfeiting reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 27 is under investigation.

 

Vicious Dog

• Just before 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 23, a caller in the 1600 block of Southwest Snively Avenue reported a neighbor’s dog “keeps jumping the fence trying to attack (the caller’s) dog.”

 

Kittens In a Cage

• At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 24, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street reported seeing “kittens left in a cage in the back of a black Silverado” and advised the kittens were “baking in the sun under a tarp.”

 

Disputes

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 23. No arrests were made.

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Lewis Street just after 1:50 a.m. on Sept. 24. No arrests were made.

 

Assault

• An assault reported in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at approximately 1 p.m. on Sept. 27 is under investigation.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• Just before 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 23, a caller in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reportedly saw a “male beating the sh*t out of a kid in a car seat,” saying they “heard the child screaming” and “it looked like the guy was pummeling the child.” No arrests were made.

• Just before 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, a caller reported seeing a Facebook post claiming “there is a dead (orange) cat in a box at the old elem(entary) school” in the 10 block of Southwest Third Street and asked “officers to pick up the cat and cremate it.” Responding officers did not find a box or a dead cat in the area.

• Kids reportedly tried to open a back window to a portable at Chehalis Middle School at 8:10 p.m. on Sept. 25, triggering the alarm.

• A man was reportedly trying to break into the lobby of a building in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 4:20 a.m. on Sept. 26, “shaking their front entrance doors and trying to bust into the building.” The man left while the caller was on the phone with law enforcement.

• An unidentified male reportedly stopped someone in the 200 block of Southeast Adams Avenue just after 8:05 a.m. on Sept. 26 and told her “the sirens-cops (were) looking for her” and “he was there to get her.” The caller did not recognize the male or his vehicle. No arrests were made.

• Just after 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 27, a caller in the 400 block of South Market Boulevard reported an unidentified subject was sitting in their bushes and pounding on the door. About 15 minutes later, officers learned a woman had fallen into the bush and initially struggled get out of the bush, but had extricated herself from the bush. The woman “was advised to avoid falling in bushes.”

 

Malicious Mischief

• A subject was arrested in the 800 block of Northwest New York Avenue at 1:35 a.m. on Sept. 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree malicious mischief.

• Just before 9:10 a.m. on Sept. 25, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest Fifth Street reported her car’s windshield looked like it was shot with a BB gun sometime overnight.

• Vandalism to a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was reported just after 11:10 a.m. on Sept. 26.

 

Trespassing



• A man was trespassed from a property in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 24.

• A subject who was reportedly using drugs in the bathroom of a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue was trespassed from the business just before 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 26.

• A man was trespassed from a property in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just before 10:10 a.m. on Sept. 26.

 

Vehicle Accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avneue just after 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 26.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Theft

• An attempted vehicle theft was reported in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue at 11:50 a.m. on Sept. 26.

 

Theft

• Items were reported stolen out of a residential front yard in the 2200 block of Earl Street just after 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 26.

• Various items, including cash, were reported missing from a residence in the 100 block of East Alaska Way just before 5:55 p.m. on Sept. 26.

 

Vehicle vs. Bicycle

• Minor injuries were reported following a vehicle vs. bicycle collision in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:50 p.m. on Sept. 26.

 

DUI

• Brittany A. Charneski, 33, of Centralia, was arrested at the intersection of West Reynolds Avenue and Lum Road just after 9:45 p.m. on Sept. 26 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence and reckless endangerment after officers found a juvenile in the vehicle.

• Jose A. Escamilla, 27, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 28 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for suspicion of being in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs after he was contacted and drug paraphernalia was visible inside the vehicle.

 

Assault

• A Centralia resident was arrested in the 100 block of South Pearl Street just before 5:05 p.m. on Sept. 26 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault.

 

Disorderly Conduct

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Sept. 27 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct after he allegedly made threats to harm another subject.

 

Malicious Mischief

• Damage from a suspected BB gun to a business’ window in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue was reported just before 10 a.m. on Sept. 27.

• Damage to a vehicle’s steering column caused during a suspected vehicle prowl was reported in the 200 block of Jackson Street at 2 p.m. on Sept. 27.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 182 inmates, including 169 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 145 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and one was reported female.
