CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Trespass 

• A homeless man was trespassed from railroad property in the 1600 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 1:15 p.m. on July 2. 

• A homeless Texas man was trespassed from a motel in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just before 4:20 p.m. on July 2 for reportedly “coming onto the property a second time and causing a disturbance.” The man advised he had been sprayed with mace on both occasions by somebody in the camp down the road, but “would not provide any information about who sprayed him,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• A woman was trespassed from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 11:55 p.m. on July 2 for allegedly previously trying to use a fraudulent credit card. 

• A customer at a business in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue who reportedly “threatened harm” to an employee was trespassed from the business just before 3:30 p.m. on July 3. 

• A homeless Lewis County man was trespassed from a property in the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 3:45 p.m. on July 5 after he reportedly defecated near a main parking lot area on the property. 

 

Burglary 

• A cat and a set of car keys were reported missing from a residence in the 100 block of South Green Street  just after 9:30 p.m. on July 2 after “the homeowner’s daughter found the door wide open,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Theft 

• Campaign signs were reported stolen from the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 10:05 p.m. on July 3. 

• A “highly intoxicated transient male” reportedly wanted to report the theft of two cellphones in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 7:55 p.m. on July 3 “but changed his mind when he was told officers couldn’t ‘ping’ them,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• A generator was reported stolen from the garage of a residence in the 900 block of F Street just after 12:05 p.m. on July 5. 

• A wallet and a cellphone were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at 7:50 p.m. on July 5. Damage to the vehicle was also reported. 

• A man is under investigation for a second-degree theft reported in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue just after 8:20 a.m. on July 6. He is accused of using his grandmother’s credit card to purchase online games. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Slashed tires were reported in the 500 block of South King Street just after 9:35 p.m. on July 2. The vehicle’s tires were reportedly slashed after an altercation between the vehicle’s owner and her boyfriend, according to the Centralia Police Department, which stated “There was not enough evidence at the time to prove who had slashed the tires.” 

• Just after 4:30 p.m. on July 3, a representative of a business in the 1000 block of South Gold Street reported “they just discovered one of their vehicle’s gas lines had been cut and fuel stolen.” 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of West Mellen Street at 2:15 p.m. on July 3. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Reynolds avenues just before 4:25 p.m. on July 3. 

• A driver reported minor injuries following a two-vehicle collision in the 1000 block of North Pearl Street just before 2:25 p.m. on July 5. One vehicle reportedly failed to yield the right of way to another vehicle and pulled out in front of the vehicle. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 200 block of South Pearl Street at approximately 2:25 p.m. on July 5. One vehicle reportedly failed to yield the right of way to another vehicle and pulled out in front of the other vehicle.

• A minor, non-injury vehicle collision was reported in a private parking lot in the 1100 block of West Main Street just after 11:35 a.m. on July 6. 

  A vehicle reportedly tried to make a left turn into a parking lot at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and West Cherry Street and collided with the side of another vehicle at approximately 12:20 p.m. on July 6. No injuries were reported. 

• A vehicle reportedly attempted to turn out of a parking lot onto the roadway in the 1300 block of South Gold Street and collided with another vehicle in the roadway just before 2:30 p.m. on July 6. No injuries were reported. The at-fault driver was issued a citation. 

• A motorcyclist sustained minor scrapes and cuts after a vehicle pulled in front of the motorcycle in the 1100 block of West First Street, causing the rider to lay the bike on its side and collide with the vehicle, just after 2:40 p.m. on July 6. The motorcyclist was treated at the scene. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Johnson Road just after 5:10 p.m. on July 6. 

• A vehicle struck a deer in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 11:55 p.m. on July 6 after the deer ran out in front of the vehicle. No human injuries were reported. 

 

Dispute 

• A family dispute was reported in the 700 block of North Pearl Street just after 7:35 p.m. on July 5. 

 

Overdose

• Officers responded to an overdose in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 7:55 p.m. on July 5. The subject was issued Narcan for a possible fentanyl overdose, regained consciousness and was transported to a local hospital. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:55 a.m. on June 30. 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:15 p.m. on July 1. At least one person was issued a criminal citation. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Shoreline Drive at approximately 12:10 p.m. on July 1. 

• A non-injury vehicle collision reported at the intersection of state Route 6 and Southwest Riverside Drive just after 6:40 p.m. on July 1 is under investigation. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 600 block of West Main Street just after 5:25 a.m. on July 3. A private vehicle reportedly backed into an AMR vehicle. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A possible hit-and-run was reported in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place at 5:15 p.m. on July 6. 

 



Theft 

• A case of third-degree theft was reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just after 10:20 a.m. on June 30. 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10 p.m. on June 30. 

• A subject was arrested in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 9:35 a.m. on July 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree theft. 

• A subject was cited for shoplifting from a business in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. on July 2. 

• A phone was reported as possibly stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:35 p.m. on July 2 after the owner left it in a shopping cart and returned an hour later to find it missing. 

• An attempted vehicle theft reported in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue at 8:10 a.m. on July 6 is under investigation. 

• Tools were reported stolen out of a truck in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:35 p.m. on July 6. 

• An attempted theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:25 p.m. on July 6 is under investigation. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A male reportedly “urinated on (an) outside ice machine” in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 2:35 p.m. on June 30. 

• A woman was reportedly “honking her horn numerous times” in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just after 6 a.m. on July 7, “causing citizens to yell at her,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. The woman was “advised of improper use of horn” and moved along. 

 

Criminal Trespass

• A woman who was reportedly “saying inappropriate sexual comments about an employee’s son” at a business in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way was cited for trespassing just after 7:55 p.m. on July 1. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 4:05 p.m. on July 2. 

• A homeless man who was reportedly “shooting up behind a building” in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard was moved along just after 12:10 p.m. on July 6. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• At 7:40 a.m. on July 1, a resident in the 10 block of Southwest 10th Street reported she “thinks someone tried to set her house on fire last night,” adding, “(it) appears that the bark was set on fire and it melted some of her siding,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

• A male was reportedly on top of a stopped train about 20 cars from the locomotive at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Hampe Way just after 5 p.m. on July 6. Another train did a roll by about 10 minutes later, at which time the male was gone, according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

• At approximately 10:05 p.m. on July 6, the Chehalis Police Department received a call from a Seattle Air Traffic Control representative, who stated he got a report from a U.S. Army helicopter that there was “a green laser shining from the ground on the northeast side of town at a four-way intersection somewhere in Chehalis.” The caller was reportedly “aware that police would not be able to locate the alleged suspect,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

 

Sexual Misconduct 

• A case of sexual misconduct reported in the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 11:50 a.m. on July 1 is under investigation. 

 

Disputes 

• A possible physical dispute was reported inside a vehicle in the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 12:10 p.m. on July 1. 

• A physical dispute between two subjects on bicycles was reported in the 100 block of       Southwest Interstate Avenue at 12:35 p.m. on July 1. 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Seventh Street at 2:35 a.m. on July 2. 

• Two parties separately called 911 from the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard shortly after 10:20 p.m. on July 2 to report a dispute they were having with each other. Law enforcement confirmed both parties had been drinking and no assault had occurred.  

 

Animals in Hot Cars 

• A dog was reportedly in distress inside a car parked in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 4:10 p.m. on July 1. The reporting party stated the car’s windows were “barely down” and the dog had been alone in the car “for over an hour.” 

• A dog was reportedly panting inside a car that had its windows cracked open in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe way just after 12:25 p.m. on July 6. The driver returned to the vehicle and drove off just before 12:55 p.m. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of online harassment was reported in the 1300 block of Southwest Kelly Avenue just before 11:25 a.m. on July 2. 

 

Juvenile Problem 

• An 8-year-old male was reportedly “shoving and kicking other children in the park” in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at 4:15 p.m. on July 2. 

 

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 

• A 28-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 700 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue just after 3:05 p.m. on July 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. His preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court was scheduled for 4 p.m. on July 7. 

 

Assault 

• Just after 10 p.m. on July 6, a caller reported a male subject was laying on the pavement in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Medical aid was dispatched. The man, 51, of Randle, was booked into the Lewis County Jail about an hour later, at 11:10 p.m., for alleged third-degree assault of a health care professional. His preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court was scheduled for 4 p.m. on July 7. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 165 inmates, including 150 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 119 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and two were reported female.
