Sirens: Loaded gun, cocaine residue found during traffic stop; man threatens gas station employee; jail statistics

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Preliminary appearances

• Nathan J. Hayes, 47, Toledo, made a preliminary appearance March 19 for two counts of felony harassment and one count each of second-degree criminal trespass and resisting arrest after he allegedly made threats to a gas station employee when asked to leave the business. During his appearance, a judge found Hayes in contempt of court for interrupting the proceedings. An arraignment was scheduled for March 26.

• Marcus A.L. Ruby, 30, Kelso, made a preliminary appearance March 19 for one count each of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, third-degree driving with a suspended or revoked license and possession of a controlled substance after a sheriff’s deputy allegedly discovered a clear plastic bag with cocaine residue and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop for speeding. The court set bail at $25,000 cash or bond due to Ruby’s dated felony history and lack of income. An arraignment was scheduled for March 26.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrest

• Nathan J. Hayes, 47, Toledo, was arrested in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue at about 5:14 a.m. March 19 and transported to the Lewis County Jail where he was reportedly released to the on-duty jail officers for allegedly intimidating a public servant.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Haley M. Pratt, 42, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail after allegedly stealing mouthwash from a local grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 6:28 p.m. March 18.

• Cody C. Spangler, 21, Rochester, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with a suspended license near the corner of Belmont Avenue and Harrison Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. March 18.

Accidents

• A two-vehicle collision was reported at the corner of Centralia College Boulevard and South Cedar Street at about 10:08 a.m. March 18.

Criminal trespass

• Derk J. Singleton, 45, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged second-degree criminal trespass in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue at about 12:49 p.m. March 19. Christina Dukes, 37, Centralia, was also arrested and issued a criminal citation for the same alleged offense, but was not booked due to medical problems.

• Randy Durham, 43, Centralia, was arrested and released for second-degree criminal trespass after allegedly crossing property with clear “No Trespassing” signs in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street at about 9:45 p.m. March 19.



• Lucas J. Davis, 42, Centralia, was arrested in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 12:53 a.m. March 20 for alleged second-degree criminal trespass and an arrest warrant for alleged indecent exposure.

Disturbance

• Kanaan Reanier, 29, Ocean Shores, was arrested and released for allegedly drinking in public after officers were called for a disturbance in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 10:12 p.m. March 19. Reanier was also trespassed from the property after staff reportedly told officers that Reanier had been causing problems for hours.

Fraud

• Officers investigated fraudulent activity on a bank account in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 9:54 a.m. March 18.

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a window was reported in the 100 block of Virginia Drive at about noon on March 18.

Nuisance violation

• A 47-year-old Centralia man was arrested and released after he was found camping on city property in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at about 1:12 a.m. March 20.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of March 20, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 164 inmates, including 151 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 124 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of March 20, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 13 inmates. Of those, eight were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis, one was from Elma and three were from the Department of Corrections.
