Sirens: Man arrested after calling 911 more than 70 times; customer grabs employee, kisses her multiple times; arrests for eluding, DUI

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Juvenile problem

• A juvenile was reportedly kicking the doors to a school building in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way at 9:20 a.m. on Sept. 10.

 

Theft

• A possible stolen vehicle was reportedly seen in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:20 p.m. on Sept. 10.

 

Criminal trespass

• A citizen requested a welfare check on a man sleeping in the bushes next to a building in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 10. He was moved along.

• A criminal trespass reported in the 1500 block of Rice Road at 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 11 is under investigation.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A citizen reported seeing “what looks like guts” by a pole in the 1100 block of North National Avenue at 4:35 p.m. on Sept. 10. An officer “checked every pole in the area (and) did not observe anything that resembled guts.”

 

Assault

• A male customer at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was arrested after he allegedly “grabbed an associate and kissed her multiple times” at about 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 10.

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 11 is under investigation.

• A subject was arrested for fourth-degree assault following a physical dispute in the 200 block of Southwest 16th Street at approximately 9:05 p.m. on Sept. 11.

 

Drug violation

• A subject was cited for a synthetic drug violation in the 800 block of West Main Street just before 1:40 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Disorderly conduct

• A subject was reportedly breaking things and threatening to hit people at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Adams Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. on Sept. 11. Officers spoke with staff, who confirmed no assault had taken place and that the “subject was upset he could not go outside to smoke a cigarette.”

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A silver 1997 Pontiac Sunfire was reported stolen from the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 9:10 a.m. on Sept. 11.

• A blue electric scooter was reported stolen out of a residential front yard in the 300 block of East Pine Street just after 9:40 a.m. on Sept. 12.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless Yelm man was trespassed from a business in the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 11 at an employee’s request



• A 65-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested for trespassing in the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 11.

• A 32-year-old Oakville man and a 36-year-old Olympia woman were arrested for trespassing at the intersection of Belmont and Harrison avenues at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Sept. 12. The man was also arrested on an outstanding felony warrant. The woman was cited for possession of narcotics.

 

Harassment

• A 46-year-old Winlock man was arrested for allegedly threatening to assault a stranger in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 11.

• A 70-year-old Centralia man was arrested for harassment in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:55 p.m. on Sept. 11 after he allegedly called 911 more than 70 times over the last five days. He did not require any police or medical assistance and called dispatchers and law enforcement personnel “derogatory names” when they attempted to speak with him, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 25-year-old Tacoma man was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill two people in the 200 block of South Diamond Street just before 8:10 p.m. on Sept. 11.

 

Eluding

• Officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not have a license plate in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 11. One male fled on foot from the vehicle before the vehicle itself fled the scene. An officer pursued the vehicle, which was disabled after an attempted PIT maneuver. The driver, a 47-year-old Tacoma man, was arrested for eluding a police vehicle and DUI. He was transported to the hospital after he told officers that he swallowed narcotics. 

 

Burglary

• A burglary reported in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 11 is under investigation.

 

Fraud

• A report of fraudulent prescriptions being sent via email was made in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 12. The case is under investigation.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run reported in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:50 p.m. on Sept. 12 is under investigation.

 

Drug violation

• A 42-year-old Onalaska woman and a 39-year-old Napavine man were cited for knowing possession of a controlled substance at the intersection of East Sixth and B streets just after 3:50 a.m. on Sept. 13. An officer had pulled the suspects’ vehicle over for expired registration and noticed the passenger “appear to hide an unknown object” during the traffic stop, prompting the department to deploy a K9. The Onalaska woman was also cited for third-degree driving with a suspended license.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 45 illness-related calls, 17 injury-related calls, four fire-related calls, seven non-emergency service calls, five vehicle accidents, two ambulance requests, two Lifeline medical alerts, one overdose, one 911 hangup call and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 147 inmates, including 133 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 107 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 20 inmates, including 12 booked by the Centralia Police Department, five booked by the state Department of Corrections, and three booked by the Lummi Nation.
