CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Vehicle accidents
• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and West Main Street at approximately 11:40 a.m. on May 2.
• A vehicle reportedly struck a building in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 12:45 a.m. on May 4. No injuries were reported.
• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Prindle Street and Northwest State Avenue just before 2:25 p.m. on May 4.
Assault
• A 41-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, and for two outstanding Chehalis Municipal Court warrants in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 1:35 p.m. on May 2. A 32-year-old Chehalis woman was also referred on fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, charges.
• A 44-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for fourth-degree assault after he allegedly grabbed a man by the genitals and accused him of sexual misconduct at the intersection of Southwest James street and Southwest Pacific Avenue just before 10:55 p.m. on May 2. The suspect was reportedly intoxicated and not wearing a shirt at the time of the incident.
DUI
• A 27-year-old Raymond man was arrested for being in physical control of a vehicle while under the influence in the 1500 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 1:30 a.m. on May 3.
Theft
• A wallet was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:45 p.m. on May 4.
Harassment
• A 22-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for threatening to kill a woman in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 4.
• A 29-year-old woman was arrested for threatening to kill a homeowner who told her to leave his property in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street just before 6:20 p.m. on May 4. She was also arrested for making a false or misleading statement to a public servant.
Vehicle prowl
• A vehicle prowl reported in the 1000 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 5:35 a.m. on May 7 is under investigation.
Eluding
• Attempt to elude, DUI and third-degree assault against a 34-year-old Winlock man were referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office following an incident in the 2100 block of Jackson Highway at 11:55 p.m. on May 6.
CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Attempt to elude
• Andrew P. Rasmussen, 40, of Chehalis, was arrested for attempting to elude and unlawful possession of a firearm at the intersection of Little Hanaford and Loop roads just after 7 a.m. on May 5. Rasmussen allegedly accelerated away from the officer after a traffic stop was initiated for not having a visible license plate on the black Suzuki GSXR motorcycle that he was operating. The motorcycle died in the 1600 block of Little Hanaford Road, at which time Rasmussen allegedly took off on foot, failing to follow the officer’s commands. Rasmussen was subsequently arrested in a large ditch on Loop Road. During a search of his person, officers reportedly located a loaded 9mm handgun in Rasmussen’s waistband. He was charged in Lewis County Superior Court on May 6. Bail is set at $10,000. Arraignment is scheduled for May 15. His conditions of release include a provision prohibiting him from driving without a valid license.
Drug violations
• A 38-year-old Centralia man and a 27-year-old Centralia man were arrested for possession of fentanyl, meth and methadone at the intersection of Harrison and Reynolds avenues just after 1 p.m. on May 5. The 38-year-old man was also arrested on a warrant for an unrelated theft case.
• A 42-year-old Centralia man was arrested for first-degree criminal trespass, obstructing a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and possession of meth in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 1:15 p.m. on May 5.
• A juvenile was referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for possession of a controlled substance in the 900 block of Johnson Road just after 1:20 p.m. on May 6.
Assault
• A 41-year-old Centralia man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence; third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence; and resisting arrest in the 1300 block of Crescent Avenue at approximately 1:50 p.m. on May 5.
Theft
• The theft of EBT benefits reported in the 2600 block of Cooks Hill Road just after 9 a.m. on May 6 is under investigation.
• EBT benefits were reported stolen in the 900 block of Long Road at 10:05 a.m. on May 6.
• A 34-year-old Tacoma woman and a 32-year-old Tacoma man were arrested for shoplifting and drug-related charges after an officer saw them run from a store with stolen merchandise at approximately 5:50 p.m. on May 6. The officer stopped the suspects’ vehicle on southbound Interstate 5.
Sexual misconduct
• The possible sex trafficking of a juvenile female was reported in the 100 block of West Maple Street just after 2:55 p.m. on May 6. The case is under investigation.
FIRE AND EMS CALLS
• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 41 illness-related calls, 16 injury-related calls, 14 fire-related calls, three non-emergency service calls, one public assist request, three hazardous conditions reports, one medical helicopter request, two deaths, one overdose and four other calls.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 161 inmates, including 147 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 118 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and three were reported female.
• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 18 inmates, including three booked by the Centralia Police Department, nine booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the La Push Quileute Nation, one booked by the City of Napavine, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
