Sirens: Man breaks window at train station; 'Major youth incident' at Green Hill; Cougar sighting in Chehalis; Arrest for sexual misconduct

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• Just after 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 15, a resident in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue asked officers to trespass a “male sitting in front of their main door.” The resident advised the man had previously left when asked, but “he keeps coming back.” 

• A homeless man who was reportedly sleeping in front of a door near the loading dock of a business in the 10 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue was trespassed just after 8:10 a.m. on Sept. 15. Medical aid for the man was dispatched. 

• A person was reportedly sleeping in a car near a business in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after 2:25 a.m. on Sept. 16. The vehicle’s occupant agreed to move prior to business hours. 

• A woman who reportedly refused to leave a business in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just after 1:25 p.m. on Sept. 17 was trespassed from the business. 

• A man who was reportedly “selling puppies” out of a vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 was moved along. 

• A disorderly male subject who the reporting party described as “nuttier than a fruitcake” was trespassed from a business complex in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:55 p.m. on Sept. 17. 

• A male was trespassed for life from a property in the 2100 block of North National Avenue at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 17. 

• A male subject who allegedly shoplifted a $10 premade salad from a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 17 was trespassed from the business. 

• A male subject who allegedly shoplifted from a store in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 4:10 p.m. on Sept. 18 was trespassed from the business. 

• A subject was cited for trespassing in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 9:20 p.m. on Sept. 18. The case is under investigation. 

• A case of trespassing reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 18 is under investigation. 

 

Disputes 

• A “disturbance/dispute” reported in the 300 block of West Main Street at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Sept. 15 is under investigation. 

• A verbal dispute between a man and a woman was reported in the 10 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Sept. 19. 

• Two customers at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard reportedly had “a confrontation” inside the store just after 5:55 p.m. on Sept. 19. One of the customers asked to be escorted to his vehicle. 

• A physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 6:55 a.m. on Sept. 20. 

 

Assault 

• A custodial assault that occurred at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street on Aug. 12 was reported just after 12:55 p.m. on Sept. 15. 

• A second-degree assault reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Sept. 15 is under investigation. 

 

Vehicle prowl 

• An attempted vehicle prowl was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 15. 

• A possible vehicle prowl was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Sept. 17. 

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1500 block of Rice Road just after 1:25 p.m. on Sept. 17. 

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 900 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue just before 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 18 is under investigation. 

 

Other theft 

• A vehicle theft reported in the 400 block of Northeast Washington Avenue just after 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 15 is under investigation. 

• A shoplift was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 16. 

• A woman was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 16. She was trespassed from the business for life. 

• A bicycle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Northeast Washington Avenue just before 3:05 p.m. on Sept. 18. 

• A second-degree theft reported in the 500 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just before 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 18 is under investigation. 

• A second-degree theft reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:25 p.m. on Sept. 19 is under investigation. 

• At approximately 4:10 p.m. on Sept. 19, a caller reported a wallet was stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on July 28. 

 

Robbery 

• A second-degree robbery reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:35 p.m. on Sept. 17 is under investigation. At least one subject was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

 

Burglary 

• A first-degree burglary reported in the 2100 block of Jackson Highway at 6:15 a.m. on Sept. 19 is under investigation. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• At approximately 7:50 p.m. on Sept. 15, a caller reported a “kid ripped down a no trespassing sign” at R.E. Bennett Elementary School in the 200 block of South Market Boulevard. 

• A case of third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court just after 9:55 a.m. on Sept. 17 is under investigation. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• Three male subjects were reportedly looking into vehicles in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 7 p.m. on Sept. 16. 

• Two male subjects were reportedly “trying to get (a) door open” in the 400 block of South Parkland Drive at 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 16. The reporting party advised the subjects had been trying the door for the last 20 minutes. 

• Just after 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 18, a caller reported a neighbor came up to a tenant’s property in the 200 block of Southwest Second Street and asked them “if there were any ‘men at home.’” The caller reported the neighbor has previously entered the tenant’s residence. 

• Just before 2:40 a.m. on Sept. 18, an employee at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a male subject who possibly had a knife had “his hand on her vehicle.” The employee reported “she was taking a nap and woke up to another subject telling the male to move away from their vehicle.” The male was moved along. 

• Two male subjects associated with a white van were reportedly looking under a neighbor’s truck in the 10 block of Northeast Washington Avenue at 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 19. The reporting party stated the vehicle “has been circling the area for the past two weeks.” 

• Just after 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 19, an employee of a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported “they just kicked out some kids who got onto one of their walkie-talkies (and) threatened to shoot the place up.” The subjects, three male and one female, were 16-18 years old. No weapons were seen. 

• Just after 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 20, a male on the side of the road in the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard called 911 saying he “wants to order a box pizza.” The dispatcher noted there were “mental health issues with the reporting party.” 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A male subject was reportedly harassing people outside of a gas station in the 600 block of West Main Street just after 7:50 p.m. on Sept. 16. 

• A male subject reportedly peed on the side of a building at the intersection of Southwest Chehalis Avenue and Southwest Lewis Street just after 6:10 p.m. on Sept. 18 then laid down in the grass. 



 

Hit-and-run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Sept. 18. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 3:55 p.m. on Sept. 18. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Airport Road just after 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 18. 

 

Cougar sighting 

• Just after 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 18, a caller reported seeing a cougar about five minutes prior in the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle. The state Department of Fish and Wildlife was advised. 

 

Sexual misconduct 

• A case of sexual misconduct reported in the 1900 block of Southwest Snively Avenue just after 3:10 p.m. on Sept. 18 is under investigation. At least one subject was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

 

Riot 

• Just after 11:10 a.m. on Sept. 19, a caller reported a “major youth incident” that occurred at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street on Aug. 8. 

 

Open container 

• Just before 4:25 p.m. on Sept. 19, a caller reported a male in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue “took a shot of bourbon” and had an open container of beer. The male reportedly exited the vehicle during the call. 

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• Vehicle license tabs were reported stolen from the 100 block of North Saxton Street at approximately 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 18. 

• A pack of cigarettes was reported stolen from an apartment in the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 11:05 a.m. on Sept. 18. 

• A 28-year-old Chehalis woman was cited for third-degree theft just after 12:05 p.m. on Sept. 18 after she allegedly attempted to steal items from a clothing store in the 1400 block of Lum Road. 

• A man was cited for shoplifting from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 2:35 p.m. on Sept. 19 and was trespassed from the store at the business’s request. 

• A motorcycle was reported stolen from the 400 block of North Ash Avenue just after 5:20 a.m. on Sept. 20. The case is under investigation. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A former tenant was trespassed from an RV park in the 1200 block of Alder Street just before 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 18 after he returned to the property and refused to leave.

• A homeless person from Centralia was trespassed from a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 19. 

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 2:55 p.m. on Sept. 19. 

 

Drug and alcohol violations

• A 16-year-old male was referred to Lewis County Juvenile Court for a minor in possession of alcohol charge after he was found with “two large beer cans” in his possession in the 900 block of Johnson Road just before 10:50 a.m. on Sept. 18. 

• A 45-year-old Chehalis man was arrested in the 100 block of South Street just after 12:10 p.m. on Sept. 18 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver. The drugs and firearm were found during the execution of a search warrant. 

 

Assault 

• A subject was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 1300 block of Delaware Avenue at 2:35 p.m. on Sept. 18. The subject is accused of assaulting their roommate in a shared residence. The case is under investigation. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A homeless man from Centralia was warned “after making a mess with garbage in public” at the intersection of East Pine Street and North Tower Avenue just after 8:05 p.m. on Sept. 18. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• Just after 8:40 a.m. on Sept. 19, officers were dispatched to the Amtrak Station in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue on a report of a male breaking out one of the station’s windows. Officers contacted a homeless man from Colorado at the scene “who admitted to breaking the window out of frustration,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The man was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant and was cited for third-degree malicious mischief. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Ives Road at approximately 10:50 a.m. on Sept. 19.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Pearl Street and West Oakview Avenue just before 6:35 p.m. on Sept. 19. 

 

Scam 

• Just before 4 p.m. on Sept. 19, a scam involving an unknown subject claiming to be an attorney “threatening legal action unless the victim paid a substantial amount of money” was reported in the 1100 block of South Tower Avenue. The scammer reportedly told the victim “they owed money … for credit card debt.” The victim was advised to end all contact with the scammer and inform their financial institution of the incident. 

 

Burglary 

• Just after 5:05 p.m. on Sept. 19, a burglary that occurred in the 1200 block of Mellen Street sometime over the weekend was reported. The case is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 163 inmates, including 150 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 119 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
