Sirens: Man Causes a Ruckus in Downtown Centralia; Stolen Vehicle Escapes Police; Counterfeit $100 Bills

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Trespass 

• Just after 8 a.m. on May 1, officers were dispatched to Riverside Park in the 300 block of Lowe Street to “move transients along from a building.” 

• A disorderly male was trespassed from a business in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. on May 1. 

• Officers were dispatched to a report of homeless people setting up camp on property in the 500 block of Davis Street just after 7:30 p.m. on May 1. The subjects were given a verbal warning. 

• A homeless person from Centralia was trespassed from a business in the 400 block of East Summa Street at approximately 12:10 p.m. on May 2 after they reportedly caused “a disturbance” inside. 

 

Burning

• Just before 9:40 a.m. on May 1, a caller asked for information about “fires” at a camp in the 1600 block of Reynolds Avenue and “smoke negatively affecting travelers on I-5.” 

• Someone was reportedly burning garbage in the 1300 block of North Pearl Street at 8:55 a.m. on May 2. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 100 block of East Magnolia Street just before 1:15 p.m. on May 1. The incident reportedly occurred an hour prior. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury collision between a moving car and a parked car was reported at the intersection of North Pearl and West Second streets at 5:25 p.m. on May 1. The at-fault driver was cited for driving with a suspended license. 

• Injuries were reported following a single-vehicle collision in the 1100 block of West First Street just before 10:55 a.m. on May 2. 

 

Theft 

• Lights from a vehicle parked in storage in the 30 block of Reynolds Avenue were reported stolen just before 12:30 p.m. on May 1. 

• Theft of a wallet containing IDs, cash, checks and credit cards was reported in the 400 block of West Summa Street at approximately 6:40 p.m. on May 1. The victim reported “the suspect(s) cashed the check and withdrew money from their account totaling over $2,400.” This case is currently under investigation.

• Officers were dispatched to a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 7:20 p.m. on May 1 for the report of a disorderly man who ordered an alcoholic beverage and later refused to pay for it. The male threatened to harm employees before leaving on foot before officers arrived. The business asked that the male be trespassed if he was located. A short time later, another business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue reported a disorderly man was refusing to leave when asked to do so. The same description of the male was given at both locations. The male, identified as a 44-year-old man from Hillsboro, Oregon, left on foot but was located several blocks away by officers and notified of the criminal trespass.  A short time later, officers were dispatched to a theft from another business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue, where the suspect opened and drank an alcoholic beverage and attempted to leave without paying. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft. 

• Officers were dispatched to a theft in progress at a business in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:05 p.m. on May 1. Officers contacted a suspect who allegedly provided two false identities and was placed into custody for first-degree identity theft. He was later identified as a 35-year-old Shelton man and was additionally booked on an outstanding felony warrant out of Mason County. Additional theft and drug possession charges have been referred to a local prosecutor. 

• A Winlock resident was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 2:50 p.m. on May 2. 

• Two subjects, a 38-year-old Winlock resident and an 18-year-old Toledo resident, were cited for shoplifting from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 3:50 p.m. on May 2. 

• A Fairview, Oregon resident was arrested at an outlet in the 1200 block of Lum Road just after 5:25 p.m. on May 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for shoplifting and identity theft.

• Two subjects were cited for possession of stolen license plates in the 1100 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 9:35 a.m. on May 2.  

• Just after 7 a.m. on May 3, a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue reported a juvenile stole candy two days in a row from the business then fled on a school bus. 

 

Drug Violations 

• Officers asked to perform a welfare check on a male passed out in a vehicle in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:35 p.m. on May 1. Officers contacted a 48-year-old Mossyrock man Mossyrock who reportedly had drug paraphernalia on his lap. During the investigation, officers located suspected fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia. 

• Drug paraphernalia and a bag containing an unknown powder were reportedly left outside a residence in the 800 block of K Street at 5:10 p.m. on May 1. 

 

Assault 



• A Napavine man was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 800 block of Euclid Way just after 3:55 p.m. on May 1. 

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road just before 4:40 p.m. on May 1 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Eluding 

• Just after 4:15 a.m. on May 3, officers received a Flock camera notification of a Honda CRV reported stolen out of Lacey was in the Centralia area. Officers located the vehicle in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street and attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled the area on southbound Pearl Street. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Trespass 

• Five teenagers who were “running around” a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:35 p.m. on May 1 were “moved along” from the business. 

 

Counterfeiting 

• Several counterfeit hundred dollar bills were reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 6:20 p.m. on May 1. 

 

Disputes 

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 8:15 p.m. on May 1. 

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 9:45 p.m. on May 1. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• Just after 10:15 p.m. on May 1, a caller in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reported someone was threatening him and “moving through the woods like a ghost.” 

 

Assault 

• A subject was arrested in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at 1:20 a.m. on May 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Vehicle Theft 

• Washington State Patrol reportedly took five people into custody in the 700 block of Southwest 20th Street at approximately 2:40 a.m. on May 2 for a case related to a vehicle theft. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A window to a vehicle in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street was reported broken just after 7:10 a.m. on May 2. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 182 inmates, including 167 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 129 were reported male and 38 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
