Sirens: Man jailed after assaulting woman; vehicle strikes pedestrian; man arrested after spitting in someone's face

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Wendy N. Foran, 41, of Belfair, was arrested at around 8:35 p.m. July 21 after being found in possession of suspected narcotics at the corner of Borst Avenue and Johnson Road.

• Rickey W. Mahaney, 46, of Shelton, was arrested after going into a business he had previously been trespassed from in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard. He was also found to be in possession of suspected narcotics at around 9:02 p.m. July 21.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run collision was reported at about 1:41 p.m. July 21 at the intersection of East Main Street and South Railroad Avenue. This case is under investigation, according to a news release from the Centralia Police Department.

 

Theft

• A bicycle was reported stolen at around 5:21 p.m. July 21 in the 1100 block of Harrison
Avenue.

• The theft of hearing aids was reported in the 700 block of Gold Street at around 3:45 p.m. July 22.

 

Fraud

• Unlawful transactions on a credit card were reported in the 1200 block of Mellen Street at about 8:58 p.m. July 21. This case remains under investigation.

• Unlawful bank transactions were reported in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue at around 4:46 p.m. July 22. This case remains under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Department Assist

• Officers assisted the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office in the detention of Jonathan Pennypacker, 34, of Rochester, at about 6:24 p.m. July 21 in the 900 block of Scheuber Road. The sheriff’s office had probable cause to arrest him on felony charges.

 

Assault



• A juvenile was arrested after assaulting a family member at about 4:17 p.m. July 22, in the 400 block of South King Street.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Christopher L. Best, 49, of Portland, was arrested at about 12:19 a.m. July 19 after assaulting a female in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. No weapons were seen, but he was reportedly “very aggressive.” Best was booked on charges of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, resisting arrest and obstruction.

• Cody L. Snyder, 33, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, at about 11:53 a.m. July 19 after getting into a verbal dispute and spitting in the face of a resident in the 100 block of Southwest Fifth Street.

• Seth S. Blackwolf, 49, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for one count of second-degree malicious mischief and one count of first-degree criminal trespassing after reports of a homeless man breaking into a neighbor’s vehicle came in at about 2:50 a.m. July 22. No entry was made, but Blackwolf was reportedly “beating the sh-t out of it” in the 1500 block of Southwest Thomsen Avenue.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported at around 3:39 p.m. July 17 in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way.

 

Vehicle Accident

• A car hit a resident in the 600 block of Northeast Franklin Avenue at around 6:46 p.m. July 18. The resident had a possible broken leg after the car hit it.

 

Theft

• A resident reported a theft at around 7 p.m. July 17 in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Two males reportedly left out of the back door of a business carrying a bunch of iPhones. No weapons were seen.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 185 inmates, including 171 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 147 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
