CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• Just before 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 4, a white 2000 Mazda B2500 pickup with a “no airbags, we die like men” sticker in the back window was reported stolen from the 200 block of Susan Street. The theft is believed to have occurred at approximately 3 a.m.

• At 9:25 a.m. on Sept. 5, a purple girl’s 10-speed Northern Ridge bicycle with the nameplate “Ghita” was reported stolen from the 600 block of South Gold Street two days prior. 

• Just after 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 5, a backpack was reported stolen from a motorcycle that was left in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue overnight.

• Just after 6:40 p.m. on Sept. 5, an employee at a shoe store on Harrison Avenue near the on-ramp to northbound Interstate 5 waved down an officer to report a suspect had just stolen merchandise and was getting into a vehicle in the parking lot. The officer attempted to contact the suspect, but the suspect fled northbound on I-5 and the officer did not pursue. 

 

Scam 

• A citizen in the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue reported a scam email at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 4. The citizen did not send the money the scammer asked them to. Officers advised the citizen to delete the email and not respond to any further scam attempts. 

 

Vehicle prowl 

• Just before 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 4, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue two days prior was reported. 

• Just after 1:05 p.m. on Sept. 4, a citizen reported their wallet was stolen from their vehicle in the 700 block of Pioneer Way while they were attending a local sporting event. The case is under investigation. 

• Over $1,000 of merchandise was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1300 block of Lum Road at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Sept. 4. 

 

Identity theft 

• A 48-year-old Winlock man was arrested in the 1600 block of West Reynolds Avenue just before 1:20 p.m. on Sept. 4 for identity theft after he gave officers a family member’s name to avoid arrest on an outstanding warrant. 

 

Burglary 

• At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 4, a citizen reported someone broke into their residence in the 600 block of South Gold Street and stole a pack of cigarettes. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A homeless male who was found sleeping outside the back door of a business in the 900 block of Johnson Road just after 8:50 a.m. on Sept. 4 was trespassed from the property at the business’s request. 

• A Chehalis resident was cited for trespassing at a motel in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just after 6:40 p.m. on Sept. 4. 

 

Camping 

• A homeless man from Oregon was given information of resource/advocacy services and a verbal warning for camping on city streets and/or city property near the intersection of West Center and North Pearl streets just after 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 5. 

 

Drug violation 

• A 34-year-old Lakewood woman was cited for possession of illegal narcotics in the 100 block of West Chestnut Street just before 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 4. 

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of South Gold Street at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 4. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• Officers responded to a report of a disorderly male “screaming and cussing while throwing his belongings” outside a business in the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road just before 10:10 a.m. on Sept. 5. An officer gave the male a verbal warning for disorderly conduct, and the male left when asked. 

• A homeless man from Pe Ell was reportedly walking down the middle of the street and sitting in the roadway in the 2400 block of Cooks Hill Road just after 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 5. He was given a verbal warning for disorderly conduct. 

• Two people were reportedly “engaged in a verbal dispute while pushing shopping carts down the middle of the roadway” near the intersection of East Cherry and South Gold streets at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 5. The subjects were given verbal warnings for disorderly conduct. 

 

Illegal fire 

• An illegal fire was reported in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue just after 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 5. The responding officer was unable to identify who started the fire and gave all persons present a verbal warning about fires prohibited during a burn ban.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass

• A man was trespassed from an address in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue following a verbal dispute that was reported at 10:50 a.m. on Sept. 1. 

• The manager of a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue asked officers to move along or trespass two petitioners who were outside the business just before 3:25 p.m. on Sept. 1. 

• A subject was cited for trespassing in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 1. 

• A male subject who was reportedly “trying to light fireworks” at a property in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue was trespassed from the property for life at 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 2. 

• Two people were reportedly trespassing in a vacant house in the 600 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 3. 

• A male subject was reportedly “wandering around a vacant home” in the 400 block of South Market Boulevard just after 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 3. 

• “Squatters” were reported at a residence in the 600 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue at 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 4. 

• A male subject was reportedly “throwing rocks at the train” and “messing with the crossing arms” at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northwest West Street just after 10:05 p.m. on Sept. 4. The male was trespassed from BNSF property for two years. 

• Two men accused of shoplifting from a store in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue were trespassed from the business just before 9:25 a.m. on Sept. 5. 

• A “crazy homeless female” who was “screaming, yelling, throwing things, running around (and) beating a cat” outside a business in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 5 was trespassed from the business for life. 

Just before 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 5, a caller reported homeless people were moving into a house at the intersection of Northwest Maryland Avenue and Northwest Folsom Street. An officer advised the caller “that to the best of our knowledge, the person there has a legal right to be there” and said they “would have code enforcement take a look.” 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before noon on Sept. 1. 

• A female driver sustained minor injuries when she crashed her vehicle into a parked car at the intersection of Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest 11th Street just after 1:25 p.m. on Sept. 1. 

• Just before 5:05 p.m. on Sept. 3, a caller reported his son, who is in driver's ed, hit an unoccupied parked vehicle in the 600 block of Northwest West Street and was unable to locate the vehicle’s owner. 

• A vehicle accident with injuries that was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 12:10 p.m. on Sept. 5 is under investigation. The Chehalis Police Department did not release information about how many vehicles were involved in the crash, who was injured or the extent of their injuries.  

 



Theft 

• A vehicle theft reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1:50 p.m. on Sept. 1 is under investigation. 

• A male was cited for shoplifting groceries from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:35 p.m. on Sept. 1. 

• Mail was reported stolen from a post office in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just before 5:35 p.m. on Sept. 1. 

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 6:40 p.m. on Sept. 1 is under investigation. 

• A sign was reported stolen out of a yard in the 100 block of Southeast Westside Drive at 10:20 a.m. on Sept. 2. 

• Just after 7:50 a.m. on Sept. 4, a blue Mazda was reported stolen from the 900 block of South Market Boulevard sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. that morning. 

• Just before 1:35 p.m. on Sept. 4, an employee at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard reported a male subject had told them “he stole from them so he could spend the night in jail.” The employee confirmed the male “was looking for a place to stay and eat” and advised “she was concerned for his health as he looked tired.” No arrests were made. An officer advised “the matter may be better served via AMR (American Medical Response).” 

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 200 block of Southwest James Street just before 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 4 is under investigation. 

• A male subject was cited for third-degree theft at approximately 7 a.m. on Sept. 5 after an employee at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard called to report the subject was sleeping under a table. 

 

Burglary  

• Just before 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 3, a possible break-in that occurred in the 1500 block of North National Avenue the day prior was reported. The dispatch caller reported they “already spoke with (the reporting party) regarding similar issues” and advised the reporting party did not provide evidence of the break-in. 

• Just after 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 4, a caller reported “someone put a fishing thing” in the dropbox of a business in the 1600 block of South Market Boulevard and said “someone’s check was sitting outside the box.” 

• Just before 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 4, a possible residential burglary that occurred in the 1500 block of North National Avenue on Sept. 2 was reported. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of “malicious harassment” reported in the 1700 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 1 is under investigation. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• Just after 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 1, a caller reported a suspicious male had “walked up and down the block about five times” in the 200 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue. 

• Just after 7:40 p.m. on Sept. 1, a caller reported two juveniles “exchanged something” with the driver of a vehicle that pulled up near them in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street. 

• A caller reported people were getting out of a truck and “trying to lift up benches” in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 1. Officers confirmed they were maintenance workers repairing the benches. 

• Just before 8 p.m. on Sept. 2, a caller in the 100 block of Southwest Third Street reported hearing the “wiggling of door handles and screens” at about 4:30 a.m. for the past two days. 

A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 100 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 5:55 p.m. on Sept. 3.

• A caller reported hearing two gunshots in the 1500 block of Rice Road just after 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 5. 

• At 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 5, an officer reported a subject followed them to a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue, then activated his car alarm, exited his vehicle and began to record the officer. The Centralia Police Department reportedly advised the officer “this subject is known to them and does this to them as well.” 

 

Scam 

• Just after 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 2, a caller in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard reported “someone (was) scamming him through the internet.” 

 

DUI 

• A male driver was arrested in the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence. 

• A male truck driver was arrested in the 200 block of Southwest Riverside Drive just after 2:10 a.m. on Sept. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence. Officers initially responded to assist the driver with a flat tire. 

 

Dog in hot car 

• A dog was reportedly seen panting inside a parked silver Hyundai with its windows rolled up in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 4:25 p.m. on Sept. 2. 

 

Traffic issues 

• Just before 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 3, a caller in the 2100 block of North National Avenue asked for police presence in the area over the weekend due to “lots of transients in the area (causing) traffic issues lately.” 

 

Assault 

• A case of fourth-degree assault reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 3 is under investigation. 

• A female subject was arrested in the 500 block of Southwest Washington Avenue just after 10:40 a.m. on Sept. 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault after she was involved in a dispute with a male. 

• A male subject was arrested in the 800 block of Southwest 21st Street just after 9:40 p.m. on Sept. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A disorderly male subject was reportedly “punching and kicking his backpack and suitcase” at the intersection of Southwest Ninth Street and Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 9:40 a.m. on Sept. 4. The subject advised he was “alarmed as there were ‘yellow jackets’ flying out of their suitcase.” He declined aid and left the area on foot. 

• A disorderly male subject was reportedly holding a “big stick” and “yelling at no one” in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:55 p.m. on Sept. 5. 

 

Disputes 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 4. 

• A “disturbance/dispute” reported in the 400 block of Northeast Washington Avenue just before 7:20 a.m. on Sept. 5 is under investigation. 

 

Recovered vehicle 

• A stolen U-Haul was recovered in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:40 a.m. on Sept. 6. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 139 inmates, including 125 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 96 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
