Sirens: Man strikes victim with crowbar; child's backpack stolen; 'unruly patient' at hospital; hit-and-run reported

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run involving a gold Kia that sideswiped a vehicle in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue and fled the scene was reported just before 4:45 p.m. on July 5.

 

Vehicle accident

• Injuries were reported after a car crashed into a pole in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just after 4:10 a.m. on July 7. The incident is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A 23-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 500 block of West First Street at 5 a.m. on July 7 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI after he was involved in a collision.

 

Disorderly conduct

• Providence Centralia Hospital security staff requested police assistance with an “unruly patient” at approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 6.

 

Harassment

• A 55-year-old homeless man from Aberdeen was cited for harassment at approximately 11:15 p.m. on July 6 after he allegedly threatened an 18-year-old female employee at an arcade in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue.

 



Assault

• A man reportedly struck someone in the head with a crowbar in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue just after 1:20 a.m. on July 7. Officers are attempting to identify the suspect, who is reportedly named “Tim” and has tattoos on his arms and legs.

• A 65-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 200 block of South Tower Avenue just after 11:30 a.m. on July 7 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence; resisting arrest and obstructing law enforcement after he allegedly barricaded himself in his apartment following a physical altercation with a former partner. Officers obtained a search warrant to get into the suspect’s apartment and arrested him without further incident.

 

Theft

• A child’s backpack was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 300 block of North Gold Street at approximately 4:15 p.m. on July 7. The case is under investigation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 62 illness-related calls, 23 injury-related calls, 28 fire-related calls, seven vehicle accidents, eight non-emergency service calls, seven Lifeline medical alerts, three rescues, three death investigations, two overdoses, two medical helicopter requests, one ambulance request, one 911 hangup, one drowning and three other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 118 inmates, including 105 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 82 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 16 inmates, including 11 booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by the Skokomish Tribe.
