Sirens: Man without pants reported; Unknown man walks into home, rummages through fridge; Man vacuuming car thinks he found a kneecap bone

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• An unidentified suspect reportedly broke into several cars parked at a stadium in the 2500 block of Mt. Vista Road just before 8:40 a.m. on Oct. 3. 

• A license plate was reported stolen off of a trailer in the 200 block of East Locust Avenue at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 3. 

• Tools were reported stolen from a house that was being remodeled in the 800 block of E Street at 11 a.m. on Oct. 3. 

• A black 1985 Yamaha XV700 motorcycle was reported stolen out of a carport in the 2000 block of Fords Prairie Avenue just before 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 3. 

• Two license plates were reported stolen off of a vehicle in the 400 block of South Cedar Street at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 4. 

• About $500 in power tools and $100 in coins were reported stolen from a business in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue at 12:10 p.m. on Oct. 4. The case is under investigation. 

 

Resisting arrest  

• A 23-year-old Chehalis man was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and for burglary and resisting arrest at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Oct. 3 after he allegedly fled from police and entered a fenced yard. 

• A 43-year-old Tacoma man was arrested for violation of a domestic violence protection order and for resisting arrest just before 6:25 p.m. on Oct. 3 after K9 Pax tracked him behind the outlets in the 100 block of West High Street. The man reportedly “tried to evade capture by jumping into the lake, but was subdued by K9 Pax,” according to the Centralia Police Department. When he was arrested, the man “claimed he swallowed 20 fentanyl pills” and was transported to the hospital for observation before he was booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

 

Vehicle collisions 

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3 p.m. on Oct. 3. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue just before 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 5. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 500 block of West Pear Street just after 8:50 a.m. on Oct. 4. 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard just before 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 4. 

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of Galvin Road and Harrison Avenue just before 2:40 p.m. on Oct. 4. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A 41-year-old homeless man from Centralia was trespassed from a dentist office in the 1200 block of South Gold Street just before 7:10 p.m. on Oct. 3 after he was seen setting up camp in the business’ front doorway while the business was closed.  

• A 58-year-old homeless man from Centralia was asked to leave a business in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue just before 4:10 p.m. on Oct. 4. The Centralia Police Department provided him a courtesy transport. 

• A 24-year-old Texas man was cited for trespassing in the 100 block of South Pearl Street just before 8:20 a.m. on Oct. 5. 

• A 38-year-old homeless man was trespassed from a business in the 200 block of South Tower Avenue just after 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 5 for “exposing his genitals and peeing on the building.” The business owner did not want to press charges. 

• A 36-year-old homeless person from Longview was trespassed from a business in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue just after 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 5 for “throwing garbage out of the dumpster and refusing to leave the property.” 

 

Noise complaint 

• A noise complaint involving a barking dog was reported in the 1700 block of Sunset Way just after 6 p.m. on Oct. 4. Officers contacted the dog’s caretaker and advised them of the noise ordinance. 

 

Illegal burn 

• A possible fire was reported in the 500 block of South King Street just after 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4. 

 

Disputes 

• Two women were reportedly in a verbal dispute “over stealing a cat” in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Oct. 4. 

• “Three drunk males” were reportedly fighting at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West Main Street at approximately 11 p.m. on Oct. 4. No arrests were made. 

 

Eluding 

• A stolen vehicle fled from an officer northbound on Interstate 5 from Harrison Avenue just after 3 a.m. on Oct. 5. 

 

Traffic problem 

• A male subject was reportedly walking into traffic in the 1300 block of North Pearl Street just after 3:35 a.m. on Oct. 5. Officers were unable to locate the subject. 

 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• A subject was reportedly trespassing on property in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 4. 

• A subject who was reportedly in the bathroom of a business in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way for about an hour before the manager called the police just after 8:40 a.m. on Oct. 4 was trespassed from the business for a year. 

• A subject who is “known to carry knives” reportedly trespassed at a business in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 9:35 a.m. on Oct. 4. 

• A subject was reportedly trespassing on property in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just before 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 4. The subject left the area at about 12:50 p.m. 

• A former client was reportedly trespassing at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at 7:25 p.m. on Oct. 4. 

• A male subject was reportedly trespassing in the 1400 block of South Market Boulevard just after 12:05 p.m. on Oct. 5. 

• At 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 5, a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue asked an officer to move along a subject who had been in the bathroom of a business for about an hour. The subject left about five minutes later. 



 

Reckless burning 

• An illegal fire was reported under a bridge near the 2500 block of North National Avenue just before 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 4. A male subject was cited for second-degree reckless burning. 

 

Drug violations 

• Possible drug activity was reported at the intersection of Southwest Seventh Street and Southwest McFadden Avenue at 10:55 a.m. on Oct. 4. 

• At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 5, a caller in the 600 block of Northeast Franklin Avenue reported people were “smoking drugs in their vehicle.” 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A man was reportedly “throwing rocks at passing cars” at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Hampe Way at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Oct. 4. 

• A subject was reportedly blocking a school bus at the intersection of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and West Main Street just before 3:10 p.m. on Oct. 4. 

• A male subject was reportedly “tweaking,” taking his clothes off and walking into the roadway in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard just before 4:05 p.m. on oct. 5. 

 

Landlord/tenant problem 

• A “landlord/tenant problem” reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 4 is under investigation. 

 

Juvenile problems 

• Just before 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 4, the parent of a runaway girl from the 10 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue reported he had recovered the girl in Tumwater.

• At 7:50 p.m. on Oct. 4, a caller in the 700 block of Southwest William Avenue reported a juvenile girl had run away from home earlier, came back, left again, and was pursued by a parent. The girl called soon after to request mental health services and said “three subjects were holding her down.” 

• At 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 5, a caller in the 100 block of Northeast Coal Creek Road asked for “an officer to come out and have a stern conversation with her 5-year-old who can’t grasp the concept of no-hitting.” 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• Someone reportedly tried to break into a car in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 10:35 p.m. on Oct. 4. 

• A male subject was reportedly trying to break into cars in a parking lot at the intersection of North Market Boulevard and Northwest Front Street at 2:25 a.m. on Oct. 5. The suspect was last seen “running down an alley.” 

• Just before 7:35 a.m. on Oct. 5, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue reported people were possibly trying to break into his room. 

• At 2:35 p.m. on Oct. 5, a caller in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a male subject “claiming he’s from Dubai and (that he) lost his wallet” was trying to sell gold jewelry. 

• Just before 9:20 p.m. on Oct. 5, a caller in the 100 block of Southwest Eighth Street reported he “was vacuuming out stuff and thinks he found a human bone.” The caller said he “thinks it's a kneecap.” 

 

Dispute

• A “disturbance/dispute reported in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just after 3:40 p.m. on Oct. 5 is under investigation. 

 

Theft 

• A second-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 5 is under investigation. 

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 5 is under investigation. 

• A package was reported as possibly stolen from the 300 block of South Market Street just after 6:25 p.m. on Oct. 5. 

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7 p.m. on Oct. 5. 

 

Burglary 

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5 p.m. on Oct. 5 is under investigation. 

• Just before 5:35 p.m. on Oct. 5, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest 10th Street reported an unknown male subject had gotten into the caller’s vehicle then walked into a neighbor’s house and went through the fridge before wandering into the street. The subject was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

 

Indecent exposure 

• A man who reportedly got out of a vehicle “with no pants on” in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 6 p.m. on Oct. 5 was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for indecent exposure. 

 

DUI 

• A possible DUI was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 5. No arrests were made. 

 

Vehicle accident 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 6:35 a.m. on Oct. 6. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 141 inmates, including 128 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 98 were reported male and 30 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
