Sirens: Motorhome Loses Power, Crashes Down Hill; Taco Sauce Sprayed on Car; 'Random Person' Walks in House

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious Mischief

• Just after 9:10 a.m. on Sept. 16, damage to a flower pot was reported in the 1300 block of Lum Road. The flower pot belonged to a local business and was reportedly thrown into the roadway sometime overnight.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• No injuries were reported after “an older motorhome” lost power going up a hill in the 600 block of East Locust Street and rolled backwards into a yard, colliding with a tree just after 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 16. The tree and the motorhome sustained damage.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 300 block of West Cherry Street at approximately 5:55 p.m. on Sept. 16.

• A vehicle reportedly hit a parked car on private property in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 16. No injuries were reported.

• A vehicle reportedly hit a parked car in the 1600 block of South Gold Street just before 6:20 a.m. on Sept. 17. No injuries were reported.

• A vehicle reportedly hit a parked car in the 200 block of South Pearl Street just after 4:35 p.m. on Sept. 18. No injuries were reported.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• Several items were reported stolen from the top of a parked vehicle at the intersection of East Pine and North Diamond streets at 12:55 p.m. on Sept. 17.

• Credit cards were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1300 block of West Main Street just before 11:35 a.m. on Sept. 18.

• At 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 18, a caller reported “having items stolen from their vehicle on multiple occasions” in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue.

 

Retail Theft

• A Shelton man was arrested in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for retail theft with special circumstances after he allegedly shoplifted at several businesses. He was also in possession of stolen credit cards, which he attempted to use at a local business.

• A shopping cart full of items was reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 17.

• A resident of Tigard, Oregon, and a Portland resident were arrested in the 1300 block of Lum Road just before 4:35 p.m. on Sept. 18 and were booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly shoplifting from multiple businesses.

 

Other Theft

• A cellphone was reported stolen at a business in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue just after 7:50 p.m. on Sept. 16. The phone belonged to an employee, who was at work when it was stolen. The case is under investigation.

• A backpack was reported stolen from the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 12:50 p.m. on Sept. 18.

 

Identity Theft

• A Tumwater woman was arrested in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just before 2:20 a.m. on Sept. 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for identity theft after an officer stopped her for driving the wrong way on Mellen Street and she provided a false name and birthdate.

 

Protective Custody Case

• A Centralia resident was taken into protective custody at 4:55 p.m. in the 1300 block of West Main Street for “the lack of ability to care for themself” and was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital.

 

Assault

• Fourth-degree assault, domestic violence charges were referred to the prosecutor’s office against a juvenile following an incident in the 2800 block of Russell Road that was reported at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Sept. 18.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Death Investigation

• A death reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard just after 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 16 is under investigation.

 

Assault



• A case of custodial assault that occurred at Green Hill School on Aug. 21 was reported just after 10:55 a.m. on Sept. 16.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• Hunting gear was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 16. The vehicle’s back window was reportedly broken.

• Items were reported stolen out of an unlocked vehicle in the 1000 block of Southeast Evergreen Drive just before 9:20 a.m. on Sept. 17.

• Just after 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 17, there was a report of a window that was broken out of a vehicle in the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard sometime overnight.

 

Other Theft

• A cellphone was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 16.

• Someone reportedly stole a political car magnet off of a car in a parking lot in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 4:55 p.m. on Sept. 16.

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:35 p.m. on Sept. 16.

• A male suspect reportedly stole an unknown item from a business in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 12:20 p.m. on Sept. 17. According to the caller, a “male suspect stole something but staff doesn’t know exactly what.”

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• At approximately 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 16, a caller in the 1500 block of North National Avenue reported that for the last four nights, someone had “sprayed taco sauce” on their car. The caller was advised to get a surveillance camera and officers will conduct patrols in the area.

• At 4 p.m. on Sept. 16, a caller in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street reported her vehicle’s side mirror was broken and there were new dents and scratches on the vehicle. The caller said she believed the damage was caused by “a juvenile riding his bike too close to her car.”

• Two subjects were reportedly “ringing doorbells and scoping out cars and yards” in the 500 block of Southeast Adams Avenue just after 12:40 a.m. on Sept. 18. 

Someone was reportedly “screaming in the woods” in the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle at 12:25 a.m. on Sept. 19.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just after 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 16.

• A pickup truck reportedly hit a parked car in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 17. No injuries were reported.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 18.

 

Trespassing

• A subject was cited for trespassing in the 600 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Sept. 16.

• A subject was arrested in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street just before 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for trespassing after a resident reported “there was a random person in the house with her.” The subject reportedly “came into the house uninvited” and when the resident threw her out, she reportedly sat on the steps until police arrived.

• Two subjects were removed from a property in the 400 block of Northwest Quincy Place just before 8:10 p.m. on Sept. 17.

• A disorderly subject who was reportedly threatening staff at the jewelry counter of a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 17 was trespassed from the business.

• A subject was cited for trespassing in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 1 a.m. on Sept. 18.

• A case of trespassing reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 18 is under investigation.

 

Dispute

• A physical dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 18. No arrests were made.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 186 inmates, including 171 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 147 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and two were reported female.
