CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disputes 

• A dispute between two homeless men was reported in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue just after 6:25 a.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A dispute was reported at a park in the 100 block of South Pearl Street at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 26. All involved parties left before officers arrived at the scene. 

• At 2:25 p.m. on Aug. 26, multiple people called to report that a single individual was being assaulted by approximately nine people at Washington Park in the 100 block of South Pearl Street. Officers arrived and contacted the parties involved. Ultimately, one subject was trespassed from the park for life. 

• Just after 6:50 p.m. on Aug. 26, a caller reported a neighbor was doing burnouts on a city street in the 800 block of South Pearl Street. The person doing burnouts was contacted and warned. The individual apologized.

• Officers responded to the report of two people fighting in a vehicle in the 200 block of South Pearl Street at 6:55 p.m. on Aug. 26. The vehicle was gone before officers arrived at the scene.  Officers checked the area and a possible residence for the parties involved and were unable to locate anyone.

• A verbal dispute between two men was reported in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue just after 8:10 p.m. on Aug. 26. “Both men had been drinking and were separated,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Drug violations 

• A homeless woman was cited for possession of meth in the 1800 block of Central Boulevard at 8:55 a.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A 19-year-old Chehalis resident was cited for possession of marijuana products in the 100 block of South Pearl Street just after 1 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

 

Theft 

• A plastic tote containing household items was reported stolen from an open garage in the 1800 block of Juneman Street at 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 25. 

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a retail store in the 100 block of West High Street just before 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 25. The case is under investigation. 

• A case of third-degree theft reported at a business in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:10 p.m. on Aug. 26 is under investigation. 

• A vehicle prowl was reported in a hospital parking lot in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at 12:50 p.m. on Aug. 27. The vehicle’s owner told officers the suspect “shoved a cigar into his ignition, stole various items, and urinated inside his vehicle.” The case is under investigation. 

• A pressure washer was reported stolen from the 1000 block of North Pearl Street just after 4 p.m. on Aug. 27. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A business owner asked for a group of homeless people sleeping in the doorway of their business in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue to be moved along at approximately 10:25 a.m. on Aug. 25. 

• Officers were asked to “remove a transient male” who was rummaging through garbage in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 1:25 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• Homeless people were reportedly squatting in a vacant residence in the 300 block of North Diamond Street just after 10 a.m. on Aug. 26. 

• Just before 10:05 a.m. on Aug. 26, officers were dispatched to a report of people living in a motorhome in the street in the 400 block of South Buckner Street and consuming narcotics. 

• There was a report of homeless people camping in their vehicle on private property in the 1600 block of South Gold Street just after 9 a.m. on Aug. 27. Officers asked the campers to leave per the property owner’s request. 

• A homeless man from Seattle was trespassed for life from a business in the 400 block of West Main Street after he set off the burglary alarm and was found on the back porch of the business. Officers did not find signs of entry into the business. 

• A homeless man found in the flower bed of a business in the 100 block of North Rock Street just after 3 a.m. on Aug. 28 charging his cellphone was trespassed from the business for life. 

• A 42-year-old Chehalis man was cited for second-degree criminal trespass in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at 3 a.m. on Aug. 28. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Sixth and North Pearl streets at 3:20 p.m. on Aug. 26. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A homeless man was reportedly “acting erratically” at a park in the 2020 block of Borst Avenue just after 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• At 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 25, officers were dispatched to a closed business in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue where “a shirtless transient male was reportedly rattling the owner’s fence for no apparent reason.” Officers contacted the suspect and asked him to stop ratting the fence. He complied and moved along.

• A homeless man was reportedly “shouting profanities at no one” in a park in the 100 block of South Pearl Street just after 7:10 a.m. on Aug. 26. Officers located him and asked him “to stop shouting profanities.” 

 

Malicious mischief 

• Just before 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 25, there was a report that rocks were thrown through the windows of a historic building in the 100 block of Pioneer Way, damaging the windows and an antique table inside. 

• Just after 9:55 p.m. on Aug. 27, there was a report that a man was seen throwing a large piece of concrete at a parked vehicle in the driveway of a residence in the 600 block of South Diamond Street. The owner of the vehicle was not around at the time of the report. 

 

Assault 

• Two juvenile girls were referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for fourth-degree assault charges following an incident reported in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road just after 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A juvenile was arrested in the 1400 block of West Reynolds Avenue just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 26 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for fourth-degree assault. 

 

Vicious dog 

• Just after noon on Aug. 26, there was a report that a woman in her 60s was attacked by a dog that had jumped its fence in the 1300 block of St. Helens Street. The woman was significantly injured and was transported to a hospital by ambulance for treatment. The incident is under investigation. 

Recovered vehicle 

• At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, Centralia officers were notified via the Flock system of a stolen vehicle within the city limits of Centralia. Officers located and attempted to stop the vehicle in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road. The vehicle fled and officers did not pursue to comply with current Washington state pursuit laws. The vehicle was later located at an apartment complex. Three males were seen exiting the vehicle. This case is currently under investigation.

 

Fire

• A small fire was reported near the southbound Interstate 5 on-ramp at exit 82 in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just before 2:20 p.m. on Aug. 27. The Riverside Fire Authority arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.  The cause of the fire is unknown.

• A residential grass fire caused by “a neighbor lighting off fireworks” was reported in the 500 block of West Seventh Street at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 27.  Police arrived on scene and contacted neighbors, warning against fire dangers.

• Just before 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 27, there was a report of a juvenile between 8 and 10 years old trying to light a dumpster on fire in the 2200 block of Earl Street. 



 

Rape 

• A case of rape reported in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue at 3:05 p.m. on Aug. 27 is under investigation. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly conduct 

• A male subject was reportedly “yelling and screaming” in the 1700 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just before 1:35 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A disorderly male was reportedly “being aggressive and loud” in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just after 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A disorderly male was reportedly “yelling and screaming” in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 25.  

• A disorderly male was reportedly “yelling at the top of his lungs” in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 8:50 p.m. on Aug. 26. 

• A disorderly male was reportedly going through a dumpster and yelling at people in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 27. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Southwest 13th Street and Southwest Parkland Drive at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 2:35 p.m. on Aug. 26. 

• A single-vehicle, non-injury collision was reported at the intersection of Bishop Road and Interstate Avenue at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Aug. 27. 

 

Theft 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 25. The suspect was trespassed from the business. 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:25 p.m. on Aug. 26. 

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:50 p.m. on Aug. 26 is under investigation. 

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Aug. 26 is under investigation. 

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at 7 a.m. on Aug. 27 is under investigation. 

 

Robbery 

• A woman accused of stealing from a business and punching an employee in the face in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 26 was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree robbery. 

• A woman accused of stealing a purse in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 26 was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree robbery. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• An 18- or 19-year-old drunk juvenile who was making “comments” to lifeguards at a property in the 400 block of Southwest Parkland Drive was trespassed from the property just after 6:10 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• Homeless people were reportedly gathering at and “leaving trash all over” an abandoned house at the intersection of Southwest Seventh Street and Southwest McFadden Avenue just after 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 26. 

• A subject was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 6:10 p.m. on Aug. 27. 

 

Disputes 

• A dispute involving one party attempting to “charge into (the other party’s) house” was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 7 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A physical dispute was reported in the 500 block of South William Avenue just before 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 25. 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 300 block of Northwest Florida Avenue at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 26. 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 2100 block of Southwest Olympic Drive at 6:25 p.m. on Aug. 26. 

 

Assault 

• A 25-year-old man was arrested in the 900 block of South Market Boulevard just before 9:30 p.m on Aug. 25 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly head-butting someone in the face. 

• A subject was cited for third-degree assault in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 26. 

• A woman was arrested in the 1300 block of Southwest Wilson Avenue just after 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 26 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.  

 

Malicious mischief 

• A group of juveniles reportedly egged a property in the 200 block of Southwest 14th Street just after 2:20 a.m. on Aug. 27. 

 

Harassment 

• A male juvenile was reportedly making “sexual statements” towards a female youth in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific avenue just before 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 27. 

• Just before 4:55 p.m. on Aug. 27, a caller in the 400 block of Northwest Quincy Place reported their ex-partner was making threats toward them and their current partner via text. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 164 inmates, including 151 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 117 were reported male, and 34 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male, and two were reported female.
