Sirens: Oil spill in downtown Centralia; vehicle strikes fence, flees from scene; man cited for possession of drugs; vehicle prowls reported

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A third-degree theft reported in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue just after 11:25 a.m. on Feb. 14 is under investigation.

• At approximately 9 a.m. on Feb. 16, 10 large propane bottles were reported stolen from a business in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue.

 

Oil spill

• Officers responded to a large oil spill at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West Main Street and the surrounding streets at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 15. The Centralia Street Department responded to put absorbent material down for cleanup and to prevent the oil from getting into the storm drains.

 

Assault

• An assault reported in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just before 4:20 p.m. on Feb. 14 is under investigation.

• A juvenile male was arrested for assaulting a family member in the 1000 block of North Washington Avenue just after 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 15.

 

Sexual assault

• A sexual assault reported in the 300 block of L Street just after 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 14 is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 36-year-old Centralia man was arrested for trespassing at a business in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue at 5:40 a.m. on Feb. 15.

 

DUI

• A 52-year-old Liberty Lake woman was arrested for DUI at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and East Magnolia Street just before 11:55 p.m. on Feb. 15.



 

Drug violation

• A 33-year-old Centralia man was cited for unlawful possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia while he was being arrested on an outstanding Chehalis Municipal Court warrant in the 1000 block of South Yew Street just after 1:20 a.m. on Feb. 16.

 

Hit-and-run

• A vehicle struck a fence in the 1200 block of B Street at 8 a.m. on Feb. 16 and fled the scene. The vehicle was later found abandoned illegally in the street several blocks away. The vehicle was towed.

 

Vehicle prowl

• Sports equipment, vehicle registration and a vehicle title were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1300 block of Lum Road at 7:55 p.m. on Feb. 16.

• Vehicle registration and loose change were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 10:50 p.m. on Feb. 16.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 70 illness-related calls, 16 injury-related calls, nine fire-related calls, four non-emergency service calls, two vehicle accidents, one Lifeline medical alert, three pregnancy-related calls, two hazardous conditions reports, one overdose and one other call.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 19 inmates, including three booked by the Centralia Police Department, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement, one booked by the City of Elma, 10 booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe and two booked by the Lummi Nation.
